Hi I'm Nick

I grew up in Seattle. I speak German. I'm a graduate student, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am from the Seattle area, and I am a graduate student in Arizona. I love traveling, learning new languages, and finding new friends. My hobbies include anything sports related. My first job out of college was as a soccer coach, and it was undoubtedly one of the best jobs I have ever had. One time I fell down a mountain I was trying to climb without any injuries. I'm glad to be alive and really enjoy being a Mormon!

Why I am a Mormon

I love being happy! Being a member of the LDS church brings me true joy in my life. The gospel teaches us to be kind to others and to keep the commandments. Going to church helps me apply the principles of the gospel in my life and become more Christ-centered. I know that God loves me and as I develop attributes through obedience to his commandments I will become more like him. Members of the church are taught to seek for "virtuous, lovely... and praiseworthy" entertainment, and friends that can influence them to be better disciples of Jesus Christ. In becoming more like Christ we are more virtuous, kind, and obedient to God's commandments. Obedience brings blessings from God. I know that God loves me and wants me to be happy, so I strive to follow his example and to be like him in all aspects of my life. I believe that God will help us in our quest to develop Christ-like attributes and in helping serve those around us. The gospel helps me have a purpose in life and without a doubt has made me who I am today.

How I live my faith

Faith means doing. We cannot only hear the words of God, but we must also be doers of the work (James 1:22). In order for me to be a faithful member of his church I strive to follow his teachings and to love my neighbor as Jesus Christ taught in the New Testament. I believe the best way to teach someone about my beliefs is by showing them how I live my life. I realize I'm not a perfect human, and that I am limited by my own capacity. However, regardless of my limitations I can grow closer to God by living my life to the fullest potential that he has given me. I believe this means continuing to learn and to try new ideas, but never forgetting where the source for revelation comes from. We should recognize when God inspires us or directs our paths forward in life. God should be our companion through the darkest moments in our life to give us comfort. He should also be a friend and companion that we willingly converse with in the times of greatest joy. We need to seek for his guidance and revelation more readily, so that we can bring about much good in the world today.
