Hi I'm Ellie

I'm a Mormon. I have been for a little less than two years. I am so happy to have the Gospel of Jesus Christ in my life!

About Me

Well, I am a stepmom to two children, a boy 12 and a girl 16. I like to scrapbook, I am interested in doing other people's makeup as well. I am an in home caregiver and have been around five years now. I have a husband to whom I have been married 3 years ( we will have been together a total of 10 years winter 2010). I would like to become an RN, but have not been accepted to the program as of yet! I like a lot of other things too but I think it will take a really long time for everything!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know the Chuch is true, I read the Book of Mormon and prayed and asked of Heavenly Father to have answers. I continue to follow the teahings of the Church because I know that the Book of Mormon could not have been made up by some random person. I know that what I do reflects on me of who I will be and who I am today! I know my Heavenly Father Loves and knows me! I know Jesus lives and atoned for my sins.

How I live my faith

Well I became a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints almost two years ago! Since then I have learned a lot by studying the scriptures, I read the Ensign magazine articles monthly and I watch a lot of informational things on t.v. like the General Conference. I do this to learn more about What our Heavenly Father wants us to do as his children. I have learned to pray often. The first thing I was asked to do is be a visiting teacher, I did not know what that was but I soon found out that I would be going to some lady's house to teach her the things that are important in the church. Then I was given an unofficial calling where I helped arrange a quarterly meeting of women in our church. We had dinners and activities. Then I was given an official calling to work with the four year olds. I am still learning but I work with the little ones and it teaches me a lot and I know they understand the things we are talking about. Our church also has activities for the whole family to attend, so we attend things regularly. I try to help my children learn the basic principles to live in a righteous way. I made a lot of changes in my life and I know have a strong testimony of the better things in life and the gospel!

What are Mormon church services like? Are visitors allowed at church meetings? Can I attend church?

Ellie
Church services are not much different from any other christian church. We partake of sacrament, and sing, we also have members give talks to help us learn about the gospel principles of the church. We also have a special day when members of the church tell the stories of how they know the church is true. This is called a testimony meeting and we bear our testimonies to help people understand how we feel about the church. ALL VISITORS are welcome to come to church. All people are wlcome to attend meetings there is nothing strange going on. We love having new people in our meetings. Show more Show less

What is the Relief Society?

Ellie
The Relief Society is the most wonderful womens oganization ever! There are many wonderful women there to help people in need. On Sunday, we go to a "class" so to speak. In the class we learn the principles of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We learn great news about one another and we also come up with plans to help people in need. We organize times to sew blankets, create emergency kits for women in need, we gather donations to help in emergency situations and disasters. I know that the Relief Society has helped so many people around the world not just members of the Church!. Show more Show less

What is faith?

Ellie
Faith is believing in something that is there but not physically seen. Faith for me is a feeling and a belief. I feel in my heart that certain things are true! Sometimes people ask if you can not see God, how do you know there is a such thing? I know that God is real and that he is my Father in Heaven one because I have faith and two because I have a feeling in my heart of warmth! I faith is knowing something is right! Show more Show less

Why are only some Mormons allowed into temples? Is there something secret going on in Mormon Temples? What goes on in Mormon Temples?

Ellie
Only some people go to the Temple because they are keeping the commandments of our Heavenly Father, which can be found in the scriptures both the Holy Bible and the Book of Mormon. There is nothing SECRET happening in the Temple. The reason not everyone is able to go the Temple is because according to scripture, no unclen thing can dwell in the presence of our Father in Heaven. The Temple is the house of the Lord. So, people who are immoral or who are unchaste or murder etc., should first become worthy to be in the presense of the Lord. We learn a lot while in the Templ, you can also pray and becloser to Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I went to the Temple on August 7, 2010 for the first time and I was little scared about it at first then I went and WOW!!! Show more Show less

Do Mormons practice polygamy?

Ellie
Haha, no Mormons do not practice Polygamy, I too thought this before I came to church, I watched the news about the religious people that had their children taken away several years ago, they do call themselves LDS but those people were excommunicated from the Church a very Long time ago. We as mormons belive in following the law of the Land. Meaning having a hundred wives is illigal so we do not do it. Yes, in the beginning of our church many people had more than one wife, but they were not just Mormons, it was practised by many different people as well. As soon as the laws were put into affect Mormons follow the laws and regulations of where we are from or residing. Show more Show less
