Hi I'm Brian

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Born and raised in Utah. Grew up in the church and am grateful for that upbringing. Obtained a testimony of my own and continue living the gospel. I served a mission in Mexico City and hope to serve again. Graduated in Finance and have yet to work in that field, it was only a year ago. Married on June 10, 2010 and it could not have been a better day, or place, or time, or girl! I love being outside, camping, running, biking, water skiing, you name it like to do it when it's in the out of doors.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know Joseph Smith was and is a prophet. I know the Book of Mormon is true, and when I gained that knowledge I knew the church and everything it taught was true. I took the same promise that the missionaries extend, although I grew up in the church I wanted my own testimony. At the age of 16, I read the Book of Mormon, not all of it but a few chapters and decided to ask God if it were true. I remember a distinct feeling that I didn't fully recognize till months later. I felt the "distinct feeling" once again singing a song of the church and realized what I had felt was the Holy Ghost. Having that experience I wanted to do all that the church taught. Although I have not been perfect, or even near it, I know that the blessings of the atonement, or suffering, of Christ are truly available through the restoration of the church and can be forgiven for such wrong doings.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by living the gospel and sharing it with others when the opportunity is there. I enjoy teaching the gospel, whether through talks in church or teaching a class. I worked at the Missionary Training Center and loved teaching the missionaries of the church.

Are there restrictions based on race or color concerning who can join The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and have the priesthood?

Anybody who has faith in Jesus Christ and a testimony of Him and our Heavenly Father can become members of the church. Once a person knows that Joseph Smith is a true prophet all other questions as to the truthfulness of the church should also be answered, the same is true for the Book of Mormon. It starts with the simple reading of the Book of Mormon to know that Christ is the Savior and that Joseph Smith was the prophet to restore the true church on earth. On the priesthood, no there are no restrictions as to what males can have the priesthood after the age of 12. It doesn't matter if you're black or white, God loves all of his children and through His living prophets has made the priesthood available to all males who are worthy members of the church. Who was Joseph Smith?

We refer to Joseph Smith as the prophet of the restoration. Why restoration? We believe, and I know that Joseph Smith was called of God to restore the same church that Jesus Christ established while on the earth. Joseph Smith lived in a time of much confusion, religiously speaking, there were many churches and therefore many different teachings that caused him to question which church was the true and right church of God. If there is one God, ought there not to be one church is a question he mentioned having. After much pondering and meditation over the issue, Joseph Smith decided to ask God which church he should join. As James 1:5 in the Bible teaches to ask of God if you lack wisdom, Joseph decided to do the same thing, he asked of God. As Joseph Smith knelt in a grove of trees in the spring of 1820, God the Father and his son Jesus Christ came down and appeared to Joseph Smith and told him not to join any of the churches but that there was a great work for him to do. Through this experience and others like unto it, Joseph Smith was called as a prophet of God. He was called to translate the Book of Mormon which you can read to know if he is a prophet or not by simply doing the same thing that he did, asking of God like the scriptures teach us. Through time, Joseph eventually restored The Church of Jesus Christ with a prophet and 12 apostles just like Christ had organized it while he was here on earth. Show more Show less
