Hi I'm Richard

I grew up in Southern California, have a beautiful family and now reside in Kentucky. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Southern California and I moved around a lot as a kid. Many would say that the odds were against me in my youth as I experienced many difficult and hard times while growing up. In my youth I experienced loosing my baby brother, parents getting divorced, living in a home of drug, alcohol and sexual abuse and many other hardships that would be tough on any kid. As a teenager I inevitably started to make a lot of really bad decisions myself that put me on a path of little promise. When I was 16 my mother lost custody of my siblings and I. My brother and I were fortunate enough to be taken in by our dear grandparents. My grandparents were such great examples for me and under their loving guidance I realized I was the author of my own life. It took me years of falling and getting back up again, but over time I started to change my bad habits and I took control of my own destiny. When I was 21 I was blessed with an opportunity to go to Santiago, Chile for two years to do missionary work. When I returned home I went to college where I met and fell in love with my dear wife. With her by my side I have graduated from college with a degree in International Relations, been blessed with 3 amazing sons, began a proffesional career in lighting controls and now reside in the beautiful state of Kentucky. I love spending time with my boys and loving their mother. I enjoy sports, politics and a healthy debate on just about any subject. I have a good life!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon, because as I have tried my best to live in harmony with the gospel of Jesus Christ my life has been blessed beyond measure. As I look back over my life, the happiest times by far have been while I was doing my best to keep the commandments of God and attending church regularly. I have also had the opportunity to pray and ask my Father in Heaven if the Book of Mormon is true and if The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints truly is the Lord's church. Both times my prayers were answered with a warm and calming peace that spoke to my heart and to my mind that indeed these things were true. Since those prayerful experiences I have had many other opportunities where those same feelings have returned to me as I have read the scriptures, served others, and have shared my testimony of the gospel with others.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to be the best husband, father, employee, neighbor, friend and person that I know how to be. I try to see the best in the people around me and try to offer a helping hand when and where I can. I also live my faith by sharing what I believe with others.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

We worship our Father in Heaven and our savior Jesus Christ. When we pray, we pray to our Heavenly Father in the name of Jesus Christ. When we make sacred covenants like baptism, we do so in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost. Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and never wanted any man to think any more of him than any other man. We hold a special place in our hearts for the prophet Joseph Smith, but it is more out of reverence and respect for the sacrifices he made in restoring the gospel of Jesus Christ to the earth in these latter days. We also hold the same reverence and respect for Moses, Noah, Elijah, Peter and many other great prophets the Lord has used to guide his church here on earth. Show more Show less
