Hi I'm Joel Tippetts

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a recent college graduate. I majored in mathematics, emphasizing in actuarial sciences. I am a retirement plan specialist for a small third party administration firm, working towards becoming a pension actuary. I love being with my family; playing with them, going outdoors, and doing musical activities. My family is very musically inclined, ranging from singing to playing piano, organ, french horn and trumpet.

Why I am a Mormon

Albeit I have been a member of the church for all my life, there was a time where I was very skeptical of the church and its teachings. My college life was the most crucial part of my life that made me clear my thoughts on whether to continue to live the gospel or not. My experiences included reading the Book of Mormon, praying, going to church and trying to live the standards of the church. Every task was daunting because of the fact that it can look like those tasks take up a lot of time, effort and self-discipline. There were many times where I felt like I was never ever going to be able to make it as a Mormon. However, after socializing with people near my age, I realized that I was not the only one in this struggle. They encouraged me to take baby steps in following the gospel, which I did. As time went on, my life became easier to live, and I could feel myself becoming a better person every day. My prayers were answered with a unflinching strong feeling that the Book of Mormon was true. That was when I knew I was going to be a Mormon for the rest of my life. After graduating from college, I have come to see that grand scheme of God's grand design. I have new questions that I am able to pose and answer more quickly now that I feel closer to God. There is nothing in this world that will dissuade me from being a member of the Church. My testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ is that if you are looking for truth and light, prepare yourself now. Don't ever give up on Heavenly Father. Have faith in Him and yourself for what you can achieve. As one of God's unique children, I know what my purpose is in life, and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints will help you to know that purpose.

How I live my faith

As a musician, my callings have been mostly along the lines of music. I have been ward organist for a number of years as well as choir conductor. In addition, my college and high school tutoring has helping me to know how to teach better for Sunday School. I have much to give back to the church for helping me in my life and fulfilling my assignments and living its teaching is the best way I can help repay my debt.
