Hi I'm Shane

I live in Mission Viejo, California, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a husband and father of 4 beautiful children ages 7, 5, 3, and 2. We enjoy spending time together working around the house, outdoors, and serving others.

Why I am a Mormon

I feel God's love for me and I know that he lives and watches over us. I know that Jesus is His Son and our Savior, who died and suffered for the sins of mankind, including mine, so that we can repent and be clean and live with God again in Heaven. As Jesus taught, when we seek Him we can find Him, and He will send us the Holy Ghost as a Comforter to help us. I have tried to find out for myself if the Bible's teachings about Jesus are true, and I have felt the influence of the Holy Ghost, and He has testified to me, in ways that are real and true to me, that God and Jesus live and that they have a church with authority to act for Them to perform those things, like baptism, necessary for us to return to Heaven. I have read and studied the Book of Mormon and know through the Holy Ghost that it contains God's word, like the Bible. I know that God has given prophets and apostles that live today revelations and authority to lead and guide the Mormon church and the world at large so that those who want to can accept the gospel of Jesus and be baptized for a remission of their sins. I have been associated with the Mormon church all my life and I have seen its good works firsthand. Its leaders and members of its congregations are not perfect, but for the most part, and generally speaking, those with whom I have interacted who are actively trying to model their lives after Jesus' own life are good people who try to be guided by God's spirit to do His will and to help those around them. I enjoy my associations with the church and its members.

How I live my faith

I volunteer as an adult leader in our church's youth program and also for our Boy Scout troop. I love working with the youth and Scouts on camping trips, hikes, and service projects. They are spectacular individuals who inspire me to be better. Life is busy, but we try to do the simple things everyday to keep our lives centered in the gospel of Jesus Christ, like praying and reading our scriptures together as a family every night before putting the kids to bed. We make attending church meetings and activities a priority, and try to love those around us as we would like to be loved. We have many obstacles and challenges that we face, but we put our trust in God and have faith that He will help us through.

How can faith in Jesus Christ influence us in our marriages and family relationships? in our friendships?

My faith in Jesus helps me keep my life in perspective. I believe that we are all God's children, and that He loves each of us and wants us to succeed. For God, our ultimate success is to return to live in his presence in Heaven with all of our family members. Through my faith in Jesus, I hope to be with my family forever, so I try to treat them with all the love and respect that I am capable of. I want them to want to be with me forever, too. My faith in Christ also helps remind me that my wife and children are God's children and that I have been allowed to play a part in their lives to help them to return to Heaven. My faith informs my choices and gives me a desire to do what is best for my family, and not just what is best for me. Similarly, I want to help my other brothers and sisters who are not part of my immediate family. I want everyone around me to be successful, to be happy, and to feel loved and important. Jesus is our perfect example, and despite failing rather frequently, I try to follow that example and treat others as I believe that he would. Show more Show less
