Hi I'm Rick

I love my wife, my family, and enjoy the outdoors. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm recently married to the girl of my dreams (I think two years counts as recently married still). We are hoping to grow our family soon by having children, and we are optimistic and hopeful for the future. I recently graduated college, and am working full time in sales, looking toward pursuing a masters of business administration down the road. Right now I get the lucky opportunity of helping my wife pursue one of her goals of getting a degree. When I'm not working or doing family activities I try to find time to get out in the mountains and do some biking. I've been biking since my teenage years with my dad, and we still try to get out as much as we can. I love the challenge of biking and the beautiful scenes that I get to see. Life has challenges for everyone, but I love life and I love the people I get to see and be around each day.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, yet the reason that I am a member goes far deeper than that. I am a member because I know that those things that are taught in the Church are true, and the way of living that I have learned for myself has been that which has brought me the most happiness. Like everyone else out there, my life is far from being challenge free, but I couldn't be happier and more content, and that is because of the knowledge that I have that puts things in perspective. I know that this life is only a short time, and those things that happen today can only serve to strengthen me and help me on my path back to my loving Heavenly Father. That is my wife and my own goal, and the pursuit of that goal has been and will continue to be the greatest journey. Living the way that Christ taught and continues to teach us through a living prophet today brings happiness in the daily living and helps me to see past the storms that I encounter today to a more clear and perfect day that lies ahead for me and my family.

How I live my faith

Those things that I do to live my faith are found in the little things of the day. I wake up a little bit earlier than needed so I have some time to read from the scriptures. I find that the extra time I spend to read totally changes my outlook on the day. I'm able to think as I'm driving for work about the things that I learned that morning, reflect on ways that I can live my life more accordingly to what I discovered, and it brings a contentment to start my day. That extra time helps me find answers to questions I may have in my personal life. I am also able to serve in the local church. In my position I'm able to meet with and get to know many of our local members. My life has been lifted in numerous ways from my associations with these members. I'm am continually amazed by their strength, their faith, and their good lives, and from them my own faith is strengthened and my desire to do good is increased. I'm able to see in many of them a reflection of how Christ lived His life, and my desire to draw closer to Him grows.

Why don’t Mormons drink coffee, tea, or alcohol? What is the Mormon Church’s law of health and proper diet?

Mormons don't drink coffee, tea, or alcohol because we have been directed by a prophet of God, a man like Moses or Peter from Bible times, that we should not drink those. At the same time those things were revealed to the prophet by God it was directed that smoking as well should not be done. As we follow the prophet's counsel we are blessed in many ways. Who is the Mormon prophet today?

Thomas S. Monson is the prophet today. He is a man who has spent his life engaged in helping others. He was only called a couple of years ago, and one of the first times I heard him speak I felt the Holy Ghost impress upon my mind and heart that the words he was speaking were the very words that God would have me hear today. He receives revelation from God to direct His children today. Show more Show less
