Hi I'm Thelma María

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a high school chemistry teacher, the youngest of six children and I live in two countries; The US and Iceland. I am divorced, with no kids but I love my nieces and nephes and they are my kids in a sense as well. Family is everything to me, be it my biological family, adoptive family or my church family. It is family that makes life so wonderful. I've been to school several times for different degree programs and hold degrees in Biological Sciences, Secondary Education and Curriculum and Instruction. I love to work with my hands and be of service to my community.

Why I am a Mormon

Simply put... It is TRUE!!! I received such a testimony of that many years ago when I was invited to Church by an old college friend and I listened to this very distinguished gentleman speak and every word was directed at my heart. I had been reading the Bible and questioning alot of things pertaining to God and religion and for some reason this man was able to reach me like no other. He was Elder Ballard of the Twelve. I did not know that I was listening to an Apostle of the Lord Jesus Christ at the time, but I can tell you this, one who has an open heart and an open mind cannot deny the truth when such a servant of the Lord speaks. I was Baptized about a month after that meeting and havent looked back. I love the Church, the Gospel is everything in my life. I don't have to wonder what to do when faced with difficult choices. I"ve already made my choice and that is to do as the Lord wants me to do.

How I live my faith

Living my faith is easy. I attend Church weekly, be it in my home ward or in my branch in Iceland. I serve as a Visiting Teacher in my ward and wherever I'm needed in Iceland. I've taught Sunday School, Relief Society and directed the Choir as well as leading the congregation in music on Sundays. It doesn't matter where I am, there are always opportunities to serve the Lord. We just have to be willing to stand up and say "Here I am."

Why do Mormons believe in the Bible?

Thelma María
Because it is a Testament of the Savior and His Divine work. His words and work are outlined in the Gospels and allows us to draw closer to Him by reading and learning of Him through study of the Bible. Show more Show less
