Hi I'm Brian

I enjoy making waffles for our kids on Sunday morning and have 400 unfinished projects at home. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I realize as I write this that my life seems a little ordinary and maybe even boring. I enjoy making breakfast for my family on Sunday mornings. I like to fix things around the house and on the cars. We are building a darkroom for our photographer daughter. I work as a systems administrator for a large aerospace company. I enjoy being at home with my family. Our children would say we live under a rock, but I think it's a pretty nice rock, actually. I help our son run a small lawn service which will provide the funds to support his as a missionary for 2 years. I like making popcorn and watching movies with my family. I like grilling hamburgers in the backyard to share with family and friends. I like staying up late and sleeping in, though my life runs exactly opposite of that schedule, except for the going to bed early part!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because my parents took me to Church every Sunday as a child. I am a Mormon because at 8 years old I was baptized for a remission of my sins (though at 8, we are still pretty clean) and was confirmed a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and received the Gift of the Holy Ghost. I am a Mormon because I learned about Jesus Christ and came to know something about Him; about His perfect life, about His teachings, and His Atonement where He suffered in a Garden for my sins and hung on a cross to suffer death and then was resurrected 3 days later, paving the way for me to live forever with Him if I so choose. I am a Mormon because I have read the Book of Mormon and received a witness from the Holy Ghost of its truth. I am a Mormon because I have listened to the voice of living Prophets. I am a Mormon because I have come to know that Joseph Smith was chosen to Restore the Lord's kingdom to the earth. I am a Mormon because I have felt the redeeming power of the Savior in my own life. I am a Mormon because the feelings that I experience when I consider all of these things; when read the scriptures, when I attend church meetings, when I pray, when I visit the Temple, when I consider the blessings in my life - these feelings are all the same and I recognize that they come from the same source - God, our Heavenly Father, through His Holy Spirit. These are the same feelings that tell me that Jesus Christ lives, that He is interested in me, and that His church and kingdom have been restored to the earth in our day, and that He leads it through living Prophets. That's why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I teach a Sunday School class that focuses on basic gospel principles. I also chair our Scout committee. I enjoy being involved with people at a level which allows me to interact with others. I enjoy sharing what I know to be true and to learn from others as well. I think that's part of the 'magic' of the Gospel of Jesus Christ - regardless of our individual background and experience we can all learn from one another. None are perfect and I enjoy the journey that is learning how to do it and then trying to get there, one day and one faltering step at a time. I live my faith imperfectly but that seems to be the whole point - to learn what God expects of me and what He knows will bring real happiness into my life, and the walk toward that.
