Hi I'm Steve

I live in the Southeast United States. I'm a dad and a husband. I'm a healthcare worker. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I live in a house that is filled with the laughter, tears, and general noises that come with 5 kids. Life is busy but it is rich. The richness comes from watching five young lives work to find their voice, their identify, their source of joy. It is a home that is graced by the beauty and touch of my best friend and wife. My home is my sanctuary. With a young family there are not always lots of moments for pursuing self interests, but as time passes I am able to share my passion of photography with a daughter, the love for the outdoors with my family and my dreams for the future with my wife. While life is good, it has its challenges. I have my fears and anxieties. There are the dreams and hopes yet unfulfilled. In life I believe we are often learning or having fun. Sometimes we get to do both at the same time. Either way, life is good and worthwhile.

Why I am a Mormon

This is an interesting question. Sometimes it references the past and sometimes it is the present. I started out being a Mormon because my family has a long history in the Church. Then there came a time when I had to ask myself did I really believe and then why did I believe. My family history was no longer enough. Yes, I did approach God in prayer and faith to find out why I should believe. The Spirit whispered it is true. I look back now and can see the periods of joy and happiness came when I lived the principles and teachings closely. The Savior taught that if we want to know if His doctrine is true and of the Father, then live it...do it. I have proven that out to myself. Lastly, if you ask me now, I would say that those things I mentioned are still true, but it has evolved. I have learned that I had come to know the Church was true meaning that Christ is at its head, He has called a prophet and 12 apostles. The power, ordinances, and teachings are the Saviors as it was during His time on earth. I am now coming to understand what it means to be converted to Christ. Through Him, His power and atonement, He can and does change our hearts. I have now learned that the teachings and ordinances of the Church help bring me to Christ and through Him I become changed. That is why I am a Mormon today.

How I live my faith

I live my faith one day at a time. Each day I wake and resolve to do better than the day before. I have learned that the gospel of Jesus Christ is, paraphrasing a prophet, designed to make bad people good, and good people better. It started out making sure I was doing the things I was supposed to be doing. Now it has evolved into becoming the type of person who leads a Christ filled life.

What is faith?

Steve
Faith is the foundation of action. Faith is following the promptings of the Spirit when your mind says it does not make sense and when time passes, reality tells it was the right decision. Faith is doing hard things because you hope it is the right thing and then the Spirit whispers you were right and the Lord blesses you. Show more Show less

Are Mormons Christians?

Steve
This is a pretty typical question or misconception. The easy answer is yes! There is a scripture in the Book of Mormon that sums it up well. 2 Nephi 25:26 And we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according to our prophecies, that our children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins. That sums it up for me. Show more Show less
