Hi I'm Art

I was born in the United States and grew up in the state of Texas. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I served in the Air Force for 24 years and retired in 2005. I graduated with a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Professional Aeronautics in 2005. In addition, I am currently pursuing a Master's Degree in Business and will graduate in June 2011. I have been married for 23 years. I have five children and 11 grandchildren. I currently work in the aviation industry as a quality control inspector on various aircraft. I enjoy reading books and magazines, watching movies, playing golf, attending theater plays and musicals, and the occassional sporting event.

Why I am a Mormon

I have always pondered and considered the three w's of our existence; first, where did I come from. Second, why I am here. Third, where I am going after this mortal life is finished. I was stationed at Yokota Air Base, Japan when two mormom missionaries came into my home to reintroduce two of my children to the church. The focus of the lessons were soon on me. I have always read the bible and tried to figure out my purpose in this life according to my understanding. I was frequently asked to read the Book of Mormon, which I was hesitant to do based on false information I had recieved. After a few months I began reading the Book of Mormon and asking myself questions about the mormon religion. I eventually pondered and prayed for an answer to the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon and the mormon faith, which my Heavenly Father answered based on my sincere desire to know the truth. Shortly after receiving the confirmation of the truthfulness of things pertaining to the mormon faith; I entered into the water of baptism and became a member of this church. I now know the three w's to life and this brings me true happiness. This church has given me direction in my life and taught me gospel principles that I carry with me everyday of my life.

How I live my faith

I have been a member since 1993. I have served in numerous capacities in the church, which include sunday school teacher, counselor to the bishop, clerk, young men advisor, scouting assistant, adult men advisor, cub scout committee member, and missionary leader. I also home teach families that I oversee each month to ensure their physical and spiritual needs are being taken care of. I attend church meetings Sunday to renew promises I made to our Heavenly Father, to learn gospel topics and principles, and to fellowship with other members of our faith. I look for opportunities to serve and help with the time, resouces, and abilities I have been blessed with. I have helped with Eagle Scout projects, provided assistance with disasters in cleanup and the physical needs of the people, church activities, cleaning buildings, and just being there for people that need a helping hand or just need a friend to talk to.

To what do you attribute the growth of the Church?
