Hi I'm Jeff

I am a husband, father of 4, fisherman and I am also a Mormon.

About Me

I have lived in Alaska for about 15 years and love it! This is a great place to raise a family. I frequently tell co-workers that, "I live and work in paradise". I finally finished a masters degree in management after six years of taking night classes and work full time as a Marketing Director and Project Manager for an architect and engineering firm. My favorite things to do include spending time with my family, taking kids fishing, tying flies, boating in rivers, and reading. Things I do because I have to or feel like I have to include mowing the lawn, maintaining vehicles, and dealing with Facebook once a week or so.

Why I am a Mormon

I was introduced to the gospel by loving parents and grandparents who helped me learn about the Savior through their example and talks we had. I will always be grateful for the strength that has come through having both sides of my family involved in the gospel of Jesus Christ. I started gaining a testimony for myself as a youth and was able to be a missionary for the Church in Scotland. The experience there and the love that I felt for the people has been a foundation for my life. I believe in the gospel and belong to this Church because I know that it is true. I am excited to be a part of something that will bring peace and harmony for my family in this world of turmoil that we live in. I believe that Jesus Christ lives and this is his kingdom here on earth. What more can I say?

How I live my faith

I live my faith by obeying the commandments of God from the scriptures and the teachings of a modern prophet. I study the scriptures each morning before I go to work and then again with the whole family in the evening before the kiddos go to bed. My wife and I make a great effort to live our faith by helping and supporting each other in obeying the commandments and teaching the gospel to our kids. A great majority of our time is invested inside our own home teaching our children by example how to live the gospel. Outside of the home I try to set a good example to friends and co-workers and to serve others. One of my favorite aspects of my faith is the ability to attend and worship at a temple. Usually two or three times a year we load up the family and make a 400 mile drive to the temple in Alaska. Sometimes it can be -40F when we make the trip. It has always been worth it. Our family has always been strengthened by the sacrifice.

In whom should we have faith?

We should have faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. He is our advocate with the Father and has the power and authority to help us overcome the things of this world. He atoned for our sins and has made it possible to live with our Heavenly Father. Through faith in Jesus Christ we can have hope of eternal families, entering the rest of the Lord and becoming what He wants. Show more Show less

Who founded Mormonism and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?

The gosel of Jesus Christ first came to earth in the days of Adam. It has been on the earth for most of the earth's history and led by prophets of God. I believe that the fulness of the gospel was taken from the earth in the few decades following the death of Christ through an apostasy from the truth. The fulness of truth was restored to the earth after a 1700 year gap to another prophet of God named Joseph Smith. He was given the priesthood and the authority to organize the Church and administer ordinances again. Joseph Smith was the first in a series of latter-day prophets and is frequently given credit for founding the Church. In reality Jesus Christ is its founder, He is at its head, and it is His kingdom on earth. Show more Show less
