Hi I'm Whitney

I grew up in Georgia where the church is still small and growing. It's good to grow with it.

About Me

I'm happily married with 5 children. I love to backpack and watch my kid's play sports.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up a member of the church. My parents were great examples to me. It was their beliefs and values that created a good and loving home. I later questioned my parent's faith. I wanted to know for myself if these beliefs were true or something that had just been taught in my family for generations. I did not want to follow beliefs that I had no personal conviction for. I've always had a core testimony of Christ as my Savior. I believed that my prayers would be answered. I looked for truth in many places and found wonderful people from other belief systems who were great examples and true to their faith. However, my mind kept coming back to the feelings that I had when I heard the teaching of Christ though living prophets. Though my searching and testing of my faith, I had a series for strong spiritual experiences that were clear to me that there is something divine and eternal about the teaching of the restored gospel. That testimony has grown as I live it. It's incredible to see it continue to grow.

How I live my faith

I get to work with the youth and other church organizations in our area. I enjoy organizing activities for the youth and scouts.

What is being a Mormon like?

Whitney
Wonderful. Being a Mormon is like being anything that brings happiness in your life. Being a father or mother brings happiness, being a friend or good worker brings happiness. Being a Mormon helps me to be all of those things that bring real happiness into my life. I go church on Sundays. I try to remember to be like the Savior during the week. I read my scriptures including the Bible and Book of Mormon. I pray personally and with my family. On Mondays my family has a "family night" where we listen to our children, we teach a gospel principle, we play a game, then eat something sweet and just talk. My kids look forward to that night and so do I. Show more Show less

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Whitney
I worship my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. We believe in the same organization as when Christ set up His church on the earth. Even before Christ's birth, God called prophets like Moses and Abraham. These righteous men were specials witnesses of God. They taught the people what God would have them do to be happy and to become more like our Heavenly Father. God still loves us and He called a prophet in our days. Joseph Smith is a prophet like Moses or Abraham. Show more Show less

Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

Whitney
Like the Bible, the Book of Mormon was written by prophets. The first of these prophets came from Jerusalem around 600 B.C. Mormon was one of these prophets. He combined the writings of different prophets and so the book is called the "Book of Mormon". Show more Show less
