Hi I'm Trish

I live in Utah. I love life. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently a teacher at a middle school. I teach math. When I'm not at work, I like to either be outside enjoying God's creations (I love to watch and listen to birds, and see the green trees around me), or I love to crochet. As for my family, I'm not a mom yet, but I am hoping that one day soon I will be blessed with that responsibility.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it brings me happiness. I continue to follow the gospel because it keeps me safe from the world that is seeming to become a more scary place to live. I have had times when I have doubted my faith, however, those times are completely gone when I look back at the blessings I have received as a member of this church. I feel the love my Heavenly Father has for me when I look outside at the trees and hear the birds. At one time in my life I wondered if Heavenly Father was really watching after me because it seemed that there are so many other people that he has to worry about. I asked aloud, "Are you really there?" I received an answer through a song that the children of the church sing called A Childs Prayer. The second verse reads, "Pray, he is there. Speak, he is listening. You are his child, his love now surrounds you." I know that my Heavenly Father loves me. When I feel that no one else is around, I can feel him close to me. You are never alone. Heavenly Father loves you.

How I live my faith

In the mormon chuch all the women are assigned partners and these pairs go out and visit other women. This is called visiting teaching. Visiting teaching has recently blessed my life by bringing me friends. I have felt alone in the past and visiting teaching has helped me not feel as lonely. You are never alone in this church. I also am able to live my faith through being an example to the students I teach. I always try to live a life that my students would want to emulate. I try to be patient with my students so that they feel welcome and safe in my classroom.

How can faith in Jesus Christ influence us in our marriages and family relationships? in our friendships?

Faith in Jesus Christ brings happiness and helps one become a better person. And when you become a better person, you become more patient and loving. This attitude helps us in any relationship that we have. As a Mormon, we are also striving to become more "Christlike." This means that we follow Jesus Christ's teachings of love, compassion, patience and gratitude. Incorporating these personality traits into your life helps your relationships be more harmonious, so there is less anger and bitterness in your life. Show more Show less

How can I know Mormonism is true?

To help you know that this religion is the true religion, you must pray about it. Or you will need to meditate on the idea of the Church and it's teachings. The confirmation of its truthfulness is different for every person, so you may feel a very calm feeling, like an "everything is going to be alright" kind of feeling, or you may feel an urgency to get baptized and listen to the missionaries, or you may feel what seems like nothing at all, just a small thought that speaks to you saying that this is the true church. However you feel, you will always feel peace. That's how I know something is true, I feel a peace in my soul that it is the right thing. Show more Show less

Why don’t Mormons drink coffee, tea, or alcohol? What is the Mormon Church’s law of health and proper diet?

Mormons are commanded to avoid food that harm their bodies. The Mormon Church's law of health is called the Word of Wisdom. It tells how to eat a proper diet and gives promises that are both physical and spiritual in nature. I have worked the Word of Wisdom into my lifestyle and have noticed that I have more energy and am able to think more clearly. To give up certain foods may be seem very restrictive, however, when you give them up and compare how you felt while you eating those things to how you feel after, you will notice a marked improvement in your energy level!
