Hi I'm Kendra

I'm a wife, a mother of 4, a creative blogger, a singer, a music teacher, and a dreamer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a busy mother of 4 young children. If that isn't enough of a job, I also teach music classes for children in my home and keep a blog about all of my creative pursuits--usually related to my home and family. I believe in making memories and music with my family. l love to travel (though I am afraid to fly)! I lived in the Dominican Republic for a year as a young girl and learned Spanish and so many wonderful things there. Before my children were born I was a middle school teacher. I still have lots of things I want to be when I grow up!

Why I am a Mormon

I truly feel blessed to have been born of goodly parents who taught the gospel in our home from the time I was a baby. I remember feeling the Spirit confirming to me the truths I was being taught from a young age. As an adult, I have found the most happiness in my life come from the decisions I have made in keeping with the teachings of the church. I am a Mormon because I believe that this gospel is the source of peace, comfort, light and truth. When I have doubts or questions and I pray, I feel the warmth of the Spirit confirming to my heart that it is true.

How I live my faith

The church is such an integral part of our lives. It isn't just a Sunday thing. In our family, we pray and try to read from our scriptures every day with our children. We have a weekly Family Home Evening, where we discuss gospel principles as a family and/or do a fun activity together. My husband and I both actively participate in church service. He works with the young men in the area. I work with the children's organization currently. I've been a teacher and a leader and am now excited to use my music experience to lead the children in singing. Music is such a powerful teacher! The gospel encourages me to be a better friend and neighbor and influences the way I interact with others in real life and on-line.

What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?

Kendra
There is a misconception that members of the church don't have any fun. It's true that our Word of Wisdom keeps us from participating in things that many outside our church think they need to do in order to have fun. I've found that my Mormon friends are just as good at being crazy and silly with out any outside chemical influences. Perhaps we're just a little more creative about what we do for fun. Our lives are centered around our families. We try and balance school and education, with a focus on the home and skills taught there, with lots of fun recreational activities for family bonding. I'd say we tend to be very busy, but busy doing good things! Show more Show less
