Hi I'm Brennen

I am a college student. I love spending time with family, serving in my community, and playing sports. And I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a student at the University of Utah. The highlight of a typical day in the life of Brennen is cruising on my longboard from the Salt Lake University Institute of Religion, where I study the Gospel of Jesus Christ, to my accounting and business classes on campus and back I love playing and watching team sports: basketball, football, and soccer especially. I love anything on a board: skateboard, longboard, skimboard, wakeskate, snowboard, snowskate, you name it! But rock climbing, fishing, and hiking through Utah's National Parks are by far my favorite things to do.

Why I am a Mormon

I wanted to know if the Book of Mormon was a true witness of Jesus Christ. So I read the Book of Mormon six pages a day until I completed it. After I finished it I asked God If the book was true. I had an unmistakable confirmation from the Spirit of God. That confirmation continues to echo every time I read from the Book. It is like God's Spirit is speaking to my spirit. It is the same feeling I feel when I read about or ponder Christ's teachings in the Bible or the miracles He performed; the feeling I feel when I ponder the life He lived and gave for me. Sometimes I feel my anxieties and fears about the future, the present, and even my past replaced with hope and faith in my Savior; I feel a profound peace and sense of security; I feel God's love for me, His goodness, and I feel His love for those around me. I often feel forgiven, humbled, and contrite (resolved to change). To me, knowing the Book of Mormon was true entailed that Joseph Smith was truly called of God to be an instrument in the hands of the Lord Jesus Christ in Restoring His Gospel to the Earth in it's Fullness. I know that the Church Christ commanded Joseph to restore and establish is His own, the Church of Jesus Christ. The Savior restored it Himself so that we could enjoy the fullness of the blessings His gospel provides to us and to our families in this life and the next.

How I live my faith

I try to say and do what Christ would say and do. I'm far from perfect, but I study the scriptures everyday, and pray for opportunities to bless peoples lives and especially help people strengthen their relationship with God. I drive a few cities away each Sunday to take my younger brother to church. And I tutor and mentor African refugees every week.
