Hi I'm Ken

I wasn't a straight-A student, but I was pretty good. Now, I'm all grown up, married and have five kids. And, I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Utah, grew up in California, and have lived most of my life in Indiana. I like learning new things, so a few years ago I decided to get my MBA and my private pilot license at the same time. I work with the Boy Scouts, but teaching the Aviation merit badge is just an excuse I use to get around the airplanes. I was a missionary in Portugal for two years, and I learned American Sign Language in college. Every once in a while, I get to use both languages at the same time. I married my college sweetheart, and now we have five kids. They keep me entertained, and I do my best to keep them embarrassed.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and the teachings of the Church always felt comfortable and right to me. I never really had any doubts. I just had confidence that I was on the right path. Just as I started my missionary training before I went to Portugal, I remember thinking, "If I'm going to be spending two years teaching about this church and the Gospel of Jesus Christ, I better know for myself that this is true. While in a class focused on the experience that Joseph Smith had, as he was searching for truth, I prayed to know, for sure, and for myself, that I was doing what He wanted me to do. I asked, "Is it really true?" My experience that afternoon assured me that God hears and answers my prayers. I can't describe the feeling, but I can rest assured that God lives, and that His church has been restored on the earth through His prophet, Joseph Smith.

How I live my faith

I'm very excited that I get to work with the youth in the church. I've recently accepted an assignment to serve the youth programs and the youth leaders in several local congregations. I am looking forward to the opportunities to help them have the same kind of experience that I have had, to deepen their relationship with Jesus Christ, to know that He lives and loves them, and to understand the ways that they can serve Him.
