Hi I'm Laurie Duclos

I am a wife, mother & grandmother. I find great joy in my belief that my family can be together forever. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I was born in Utah, but grew up in Southern California. After marriage we moved back to Utah to raise our family. My six sons are all adults, and although I terribly miss having my little ones around me and needing me, I do enjoy being a grandma to my six grand daughters. Each week my siblings gather at my recently widowed mother's home at least once, to socialize, cook together, eat, serve others and to serve her, as she is now alone for the first time ever. These things bring great joy to my life. I love cooking, sewing, quilting and other needle crafts, reading, gardening and especially being with my family. I work as a secretary at a charter school in my hometown, and love the daily interaction I have with the students there.

Why I am a Mormon

I love the Gospel of Jesus Christ! I love being a member of HIs kingdom here on the earth, socializing with others who share my values, and who have made the same covenants I have made; to follow The Lord, remember Him, keep His commandments bear the burdens of others. I was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when I was 8 years old, primarily because I believed the things I'd been told. I knew the church was good, and I knew that my parents believed it was true. It was just the right thing to do. As I grew and studied the scriptures, as well as the history of our church, I came to know for myself that this church is not only good, it is a great force for good in a very evil world. I know that there are many good people, and good churches all over the world, but I have come to know for myself, through study, prayer and personal experience with the promptings of the Holy Ghost, that this church is God's true church, with His sanction, power and authority. I entreat all to follow the example of Jesus Christ, do His will, keep His commandments, study His words and seek a personal experience with Him. You will be filled with the Spirit of The Lord, and find great peace as you do so. In your study, I plead that all will turn to the Book of Mormon. See what good is in that great book. Try it for yourselves. You will come to feel it's power in your lives, and receive great joy in following its teachings.

How I live my faith

I meet with and frequently teach the 14-15 year old girls at church each Sunday, and participate in activities with them one evening during the week. These activities center on their setting and working on goals to help them strengthen their homes and families, and become righteous women. I have also recently taken the opportunity to go with the 12-17 year old girls to camp as their cook and advisor. Getting to know all of the girls as I mentored them and shared my love of cooking and of the Gospel was very gratifying. I am happily, very active in our women's organization, which helps to increase my own faith and personal righteousness, strengthen my home and family, and provide relief to others by serving them in their times of need. My testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ is very strong, I know our Father in Heaven lives, He loves all of us, His children, and wants us to return to Him. He provided a way for each of us to do just that, through the Atonement and Sacrifice of His Son, Jesus Christ, who also loves us, and will always be there for us when we seek Him. I know that it is only through His perfect Son that we have the privilege of approaching our Father, the Great God of the universe, through our humble prayers. I love them both, and I love sharing this testimony with anyone who wants to hear. My prayer is that the young women and girls I serve, and especially my family members hear and see this message through my words and actions, and are strengthened by it. At work, children in stressful situations frequently come to me for help. I hope that in moments injuries, illnesses and/or anxiety, my words and actions allow those children comfort and peace, through the love of The Lord. Often I pray that other souls may feel His love through me.
