Hi I'm Ian

I love to travel, I was born in Germany, I enjoy learning about cultures, I want to be a translator, and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am someone who really appreciates different cultures and people. My whole life I have been really fascinated with other people, faiths, languages, and customs. I have been really blessed myself to have traveled to many european countries at such a young age. I consider myself a German-American. I was born on german soil in a german hospital in Bavaria. My father was working in the military at the time. Even though I was born to american parents my birth certificate is german and whenever I have to take care if legal matters I have to bring my translated documents with me. My parents and I moved back to the US when I was just over a year old, but I grew up with stories and pictures of the beauties of Bavaria, Germany. When I was 16 I became determined to teach myself german and when I graduated from high school my parents sent me abroad to Germany. I lived there for a year with a host family, and it was there in Germany that my life would change forever.

Why I am a Mormon

I have always been religious. My father grew up in the Catholic Church and my mother in the Episcopal Church. My family raised my sister and I as episcopalians and I was baptized and confirmed in that church when I was very young. My grandma and mother took my sister and I to church on sundays when I was growing up. Even though I had a good christian upbringing, there were a lot of things that left me confused about the teachings of my church and it's practices. When I was 18 and moved to Germany and I met the mormon missionaries. I was very interested in their message and began attending church services the home I was living at in Germany. About a month after my discovery of the church I was baptized. That was the best decision I ever could have made, I am so grateful to be a member of this church!

How I live my faith

My religion means a lot to me. I feel that our church is unique in that we don't just go to church on Sunday and call it good, we try our hardest throughout the week to live a good christian life. Our religion is not just a formal service on a Sunday, it's a complete lifestyle. I spend my mornings reading the scriptures, I pray in the morning when I get up and in the evening when I go to bed, and I am trying my hardest to pursue the things that God would want me to do.

Who are the Mormons?

We are members of The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints. To be politically correct we like to be referred to as Latter-day Saints. We are often referred to as "Mormons" because of our belief in The Book Of Mormon. Show more Show less

What are Mormon Temples used for?

Temples are sacred houses of our Lord. In temples we learn more about life and the covenants we need to make and follow to stay true to the gospel of Jesus Christ. Ordinance work for deceased relatives is also preformed, giving those who have not accepted the gospel a chance to receive the same blessing that us members have had. The deceased have a choice to accept or reject these ordinances preformed. Show more Show less
