Hi I'm Sarah

I'm a wife, mother, homeschooler, singer and hiker. I'm also a Mormon.

About Me

I am the fifth of seven children in my family. I loved growing up with lots of siblings. Now I enjoy all of the adventures and fun of raising my own family. My husband and I have six beautiful children; five girls and one boy, in that order. I homeschool the kids and my husband is a professor at a local university. I grew up in the church, and I have loved learning to apply the gospel of Jesus Christ my whole life. I also served a mission in England and, although the work was very challenging, I loved that time in my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I can trace my ancestry back to the early times of the restoration of the church, and many would argue that that is why I am a Mormon. And that certainly is part of the reason, but not the whole reason. I have a great deal of respect and gratitude for my ancestors who had the courage to join the church and live what they believed. They sacrificed much. Their courage was strong and their faith was unwavering. They faced their challenges with a hope in Christ. I want to be like them. Over the course of my life I have learned for myself that the doctrines of this church are more than an inspiring story I heard in Sunday School when I was a kid or something that my parents told me to try to make me feel better. The doctrines of this church are real, and true! They are for everybody! Heavenly Father has a plan for all of His children. It is a plan that is designed to provide true happiness for us in this life, and in the life to come. I know that my father in heaven knows me. He knows what my challenges and short comings are, he knows what makes me happy, and he knows what my potential is and how I can reach it. I am a Mormon because I love this church. I love listening to the prophet and trying my best to follow his teachings. I love reading the Book of Mormon and the feeling of peace, understanding, gratitude and empowerment that I get every time I read it. I love going to church every week and learning again and again about the gospel of Jesus Christ and how I can better apply it in my life. I love going to the temple and feeling like I have gone home again. I love how being a Mormon helps me to help others and to be a better person.

How I live my faith

I serve in my ward as the Music Chairperson and Choir Director. I love music and I love to sing and I am really enjoying the work I'm involved with right now. In the past I have worked in the Primary organization with the children and been a teacher for the adult women. Really, most of what I do to live my faith happens every day, in my own home. As a family we have a brief scripture study every morning. We have a "Family Home Evening" every Monday night. We pray as a family morning and night. My husband I pray together morning and night. I say my personal prayers morning and night and I have my own scripture study time every day. Our home is a great laboratory where we practice charity, faith, service, forgiveness, repentance, hope, honesty, consequences, rewards, work and other principles daily. I love my family so much. I love the opportunity that the gospel provides for our family to be together all day, every day, living and learning and growing together.
