Hi I'm Diane Rogers Richins

I'm a Mormon. I grew up a farm girl in central Arizona, United States. I still live close to where I grew up.

About Me

My husband and I were married 8 years ago. We have known each other for many years, raising our families in the same community and church ward. When we married I had three married daughters and two married step sons and he had three married sons. We are a blended family on several levels. Our activities center around our children and grandchildren's events.

Why I am a Mormon

I joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints when I was 14 years old. A new family moved into our community and they were Mormon and sent the missionaries to our home. That was the first I remember hearing about Mormons. As a young child, my mother, sister and I attended the Presbyterian Church. I have always had some knowledge of God and Jesus Christ. As I listened to the missionaries, it was easy for me to accept their message, but it has taken me the rest of my life to totally understand what the Gospel can mean in my life. I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior and that He and my Heavenly Father love me. I have felt their love for me many times during my life and I can reflect on my past and see how they have helped me through difficult times. I am thankful for a Prophet today, President Monson. I am thankful the Joseph Smith knealt and asked what church to join and then was able to follow the instructions he received from the Lord. I love the Book of Mormon and can relate so much of it my life. The Bible brings me comfort, as I read about God's actions with all His people.

How I live my faith

Living the gospel means to internalize the teachings of Jesus Christ. I try to live with gratitude in my heart and mind. When I feel grateful for my life, and who I am, I am less likely to judge others. I try to face each day with a positive outlook. What am I to learn today? What does my Father in Heaven want me to do? Over time I have served in community groups supporting my children and helping to improve our fast growing community. I enjoy having a variety of friends with varied interests and backgrounds. In the church I currently teach an adult Sunday School class. This is a great way to learn the gospel. This year we are studying the New Testament. One of the wonderful aspects of the church organization is that each member serves. Every member has an opportunity to serve in different positions. No matter the position, Heavenly Father guides us. Many times I have felt the Spirit directing my actions. I have enjoyed serving the young children and adults that I attend church with who make up an extension of my family.

Why don’t women hold the priesthood in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? How do Mormon women lead in the Church?

Diane Rogers Richins
I enjoy being a woman in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. There are differences in men and women, we approach things differently and we have different purposes in life. I have served in the leadership of our Women's organization and witnessed for myself the advantages of each of our roles as men and women. My greatest joy and fulfillment stem from womanhood, including our natural ability to nurture others. Show more Show less
