Hi I'm Spence

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a middle-aged man living in Texas. I am married to Dayna, and we have two children who are now grown and out of our home. We've been married now for 27 years.

Why I am a Mormon

Well, I was born into the Church, so I have been a member all of my life. So that's what got me started. Since then, as I grew toward adulthood, I gained my own conviction that the Mormon Church teaches the Fullness of the Gospel, as taught in the New Testament. As I line up all of the teaching of the Bible to what our Church teaches, I find a more complete match than any other Christian denomination that I'm aware of. Beyond that, and an even more powerful influence for me is the conviction brought by the Holy Spirit that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is true and that this is His restored church.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith on a day-by-day basis, using the spiritual foundation that has blessed my life for so many years. In addition to my daily devotional of prayer and scripture reading, I really gain a lot from serving others and the joy that it brings. One way that I do that is by teaching a scripture study class to the young single adults in our area. We finished our study of the New Testament, then the study of Church History, and now we're discussing the Book of Mormon. Then we'll start all over again! I'm increasingly convinced that the answers to the world's problems, and the problems in our individual lives, are found within the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

What is the Law of Chastity?

Spence
There are many voices in the world today working to send the message that sexual relations outside of marriage are normal, acceptable and in fact a good idea. It is portrayed on TV and the movies regularly. The traditional view of marriage is becoming more and more archaic in the minds of humanity. But despite these worldwide trends, the Lord's position on this topic has never changed. This traditional law against adultery and fornication are not there to make us less happy. I believe these are there to help lead us to a lifetime of happiness and fulfillment through the experiences of family life, with children welcomed in to our homes and lives and a committment for life to our spouse.
