Hi I'm Jerry Lease

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a Firefighter, I love this job as it allows me to serve people in their hour of greatest need. I find great joy in serving my brothers and sisters in my community. Service is a way for me to feel close to God. The small acts of kindness are my favorite ones though, opening a door, helping with groceries, giving a ride on a cold/hot day. I have 5 kiddos to keep me busy. I love them dearly and couldn't imagine eternity without them.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in another church, an uncle baptized me in yet another church. Those churches could not offer me the identity I needed. In the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, I received the identity I was looking for. I realized am a literal spirit child of God. I am someone special. I read and studied the doctrine of the church, then prayed for a confirmation of its veracity. I received an answer to my prayers and now know who I am. I am a special person, just as special as everyone else. In the past I regularly hated people who were not like me, a judgment based solely on their appearance, now I know all of God's children are special.

How I live my faith

I get to teach Sunday school to a large group of 9 year old's with my wife, actually she teaches most of the time, I just help her. I also get to help a friend build his house. Company while taking on such a large project is always welcome.

Are Mormons Christians?

Jerry Lease
I was asked this right after I got back from serving a mission from a family member. I told him three times, each time he just couldn't grasp the fact that we do believe in and worship Jesus Christ. I kinda hurt my feelings that even though I was standing right there in front of him, telling him face to face, he couldn't believe me. I guess he thought what someone else told him was true even though I was right there telling him WE DO!!! We believe He is the only way by which man can go into Gods presence. Only by His grace can we be saved. Jesus is the Christ. Show more Show less

What is the purpose of the welfare services of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?

Jerry Lease
Self sufficiency/self-reliance, 100%, this has been the hardest for us but it is coming along. We have always been beholden to forces around us as we develop our own self-reliance. We have become empowered to help those around us. Sometimes others are not able to help themselves, in these cases we help them. I have yet to find a circumstance where an individual is completely incapable of helping others. It might seem that way at first but as we discover each others strengths and weaknesses we can support each other and help each other improve ourselves. When someone takes a hand out, they expect another the next day because it was given previously. When someone is taught about self-sufficiency they can learn to overcome any burden one step at a time. It can be a very difficult journey but as one takes it they are emboldened by the courage and work they have out into it. They then see a little progress and see that they really are capable of success. It builds onto itself. The person who is helping, receives blessings for having helped. The person who receives the blessings, receives the blessings of heaven, at the hands of earthly angels willing to help. As I have worked to help others it brings great joy to my heart as I serve them. The Lord showed us how to serve, now we just need to go out and do it. Show more Show less
