Hi I'm Joe

I'm from Seattle. I 'm a musician / singer / songwriter and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love music. Listening to it; creating it; recording it. It's my passion. My three brothers, my little sister and I make up the members of an indie rock band called Les Sages (www.lessages.com) by night. By day I'm a software developer, a web designer, and a student.

Why I am a Mormon

Because I'm a Christian. I really believe that Jesus Christ is at the head of this church; that it is his, and that it was created by him. He has once again chosen apostles, just as in the bible, and he speaks with them, even face-to-face, to give us the guidance and direction we so desperately need. I'v prayed and I've asked my God to show me the truth or fiction of this incredible claim, and he has. Again and again. When I hear the modern day apostles speak, the Spirit of God resonates inside me, testifying of the truth of their words. When I read the words of the prophets in the Book of Mormon or the Bible, I feel the same distinct power. God knows us individually and he answers our individual prayers. We can have a personal relationship with him, and he will guide to truth and eternal happiness.

How I live my faith

I just try and always be prepared to give a helping hand. We are God's children and he can work through us to bless the lives of his children. I never feel closer to God or more in sync with my purpose here on earth than when I'm in the service of others. In my local congregation I'm given many opportunities to serve and to receive service. I've learned that it's important to do both so that everyone has ample opportunity to serve and become one with the purposes of God. There's no better feeling than that.

Why is family so important to Mormons?

We do not believe that marriage or families in general are to be only until death. Families are supposed to be forever. They are a key part of our Heavenly Father's plan to help us progress and find real lasting happiness during this life and after. I don't think heaven could be heaven without our families. When you realize that these relationships can be eternal, not just temporary, your relationships are instantly more meaningful. I love my family so much, and I am going to do everything I can to make sure that we stick together after this life. That means keeping the commandments of God and supporting my family members in doing the same. Then we can all make it back to our God linked together as husband and wife, father and mother, brother and sister, and so on. There's very few doctrines more comforting than that. Show more Show less
