Hi I'm Dennis W. Alger

I spent 11 years in the Navy on Submarines. I'm a retired software design engineer. I'm a father of nine children. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a husband to a beautiful wife for over 40 years and counting, a father of nine wonderful children and have 15 grandchildren (so far). I retired in 2009 to help my wife in her struggle through her bout with stage 4 cancer. We find great joy in volunteer work and in service to others. My wife and I like to gather family history records and provide temple ordinances for them to bind our family for eternity.

Why I am a Mormon

The Gospel of Jesus Christ adds direction to my life. I'm a Mormon because I like the person I am when I live the teachings of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I know I lived before I was born on this earth, I know why I am here on earth and I have great hope for the future in returning to the mansions in my Heavenly Father’s kingdom. I feel the love He and the Savior, Jesus Christ, have for me and I am grateful for the blessings this brings to my life. I know the Church of Jesus Christ has been restored to the earth through the Prophet Joseph Smith with the priesthood authority to act in the name of Jesus. Jesus Christ leads and directs His church through living prophets and apostles on the earth today. I am thankful for the stability and strength the gospel gives to me and my family in this troubled world today.

How I live my faith

Service to others is a great way to serve Jesus Christ. He told us, “Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me (Matthew 25:40)” I love to serve others, to lift and strengthen them because when I do, I am lifted and strengthened myself. In addition to serving others one-on-one, as a Mormon, I teach groups of youth and adults. I strive to be a good citizen of my community, my nation, and the world. I strive to show my love for God by the way I treat others, His children. With all the trials and difficulties this life has to offer, small acts of kindness go a long way to ease the burdens of others so they can see the love God has for them.
