Hi I'm Terrence Taylor

I'm a son, I'm a musician, I'm a student, I'm a friend, I'm a self-taught dancer and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Well Im 24 years old and I am a convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I am a current student studying History with a focus in European History at Arizona State University. I love to sing, dance, act, rap, beatbox, making beats, and hanging out with friends! I've been in choir since the 3rd grade and I can not see my life without it! I actually taught myself how to dance by watching music videos and taught myself how to beatbox by just making funny sound effects! It is sometimes tough being the only member of the Church in my family but yet such a blessing; I get to be an example to my family everyday of my life. The Church in itself is a big family unit and now I have multiple brothers and sisters! I LOVE THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST! :)

Why I am a Mormon

Why I am a Mormon is because of the love I have for my Heavenly Father and the Savior of this world. I believe that Joseph Smith is a true prophet of God. Joseph Smith was directed through God to restore the Holy Priesthood and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. There is truth in the Book of Mormon and it guides me through the troubles of life.

How I live my faith

I recently returned from my mission in England! I loved being able to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ to those around me! Now I am back in school attending my YSA ward. I strive to continue to share my love of the Savior Jesus Christ and His teachings :)

What blessings can you receive from reading the Book of Mormon, the Bible, and other scriptures?

Terrence Taylor
As you read these holy works, you will be able to receive revelation by pondering. As the prophets and apostles taught us we must read, study, and ponder the scriptures to know if they are true or not. You will also receive the blessing of better understanding on what our Heavenly Father is trying to teach us through his apostles and prophets. Show more Show less

Why do Mormons perform baptisms for the dead?

Terrence Taylor
As you know there have been a lot of people on this Earth. Many of whom of who were not on the Earth when the restoration of the Gospel began, who did not receive the teaching of the Gospel, or who did not accept the message. When they die, they are sent to the Spirit Prison. While in Spirit Prison they will hearken to the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. That is where we come in. We want all of God's children, living or dead, to partake of His goodness. Through the process of family history work, it is possible to proxy for the deceased in the Temple. Show more Show less

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Terrence Taylor
No we do not have to go on a mission; you can still be a servant of the Lord and not go on a mission. It is taught our prophet today, especially to all young men, that we should serve a mission and bring the world His Truth. I enjoyed my full time service as a missionary and continue to enjoy being a missionary sharing my love of the Savior. Show more Show less

Why do Mormons baptize their new members?

Terrence Taylor
Men of the Mormon faith have the preisthood to act in the name of Jesus Christ and has been ordained so to baptize. As John the Baptist had the power to baptize Our Savior Jesus Christ, men of the Mormon faith can too. Preisthood power was restored on this Earth through Joseph Smith and the power of baptism was restored with it. Show more Show less

Why do some call Mormonism a cult?

Terrence Taylor
People that are outside of the Mormon Church do not understand what we do: Temples, Ordinance, and etc. People hear bad rumors about the Mormon Church. I say to those that are confused about what we do, is to come to a meetinghouse and attend a full church service and see how you feel. Show more Show less

Are there restrictions based on race or color concerning who can join The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and have the priesthood?

Who chooses the Mormon prophet?

Terrence Taylor
The Lord chooses the men who will lead and guide Heavenly Father's children back to him. This is done through revelation. There are 15 chosen men who are called Apostles or "Special Witnesses of Christ" who guide and direct the work of the Lord. The Senior Apostle (or the one who was called before the others) is the Prophet of God. When the Prophet dies, the next Senior Apostle is the Prophet. With him are two other Apostles which are his counselors and three of them make up the First Presidency of the Church. Show more Show less

Terrence Taylor
NO! We revere him as a Prophet of God just like Moses or Noah. God has given us prophets so that we can know what we need to do to come back to God's presence. We can know of our Heavenly Father's will through His prophet. We worship God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ! :) Show more Show less

Why is authority to perform a baptism important?

Terrence Taylor
Jesus Christ did not just go up to just some random person on the street and asked them to baptize him, he went to John the Baptist who held the authority of God to baptize him. If we read in Matthew 3:13-17 we see that Jesus Christ was baptized "to fufill all righteousness" (Matthew 3:15 in the Bible). We also need to be baptized by that same authority from God.
