Hi I'm Ryan

I grew up in California. I studied the Middle East, I will go to law school, and I am Mormon

About Me

I am married to the most beautiful woman. I have a Bachelors in Middle Eastern Studies and Arabic. I am the Director of Curriculum for an NGO called Zaytoon International, and I am applying to law school in the fall.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have learned by experience that the principles of the Restored Gospel lead you to the Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is the central figure in my life, and I am consumed with knowing Him more intimately everyday. I have obeyed the principles of the Restored gospel for almost 16 years, and they have consistently brought me closer and closer to my Savior. Through obedience to the Gospel I have found Jesus Christ. It is a blessing to find Jesus Christ because He heals me, forgives me, strengthens me, empowers me, and guides me. I promise that no other system, program, or set of teachings can lead you to God like the teachings of the Restored Gospel as taught by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by staying clean and going about doing good. Again, the purpose of my faith is to continually find the Savior and to know Him better. In order to accomplish my purpose, I keep commandments that keep me clean spiritually. Commandments that keep me clean are Chastity, the Word of Wisdom our Health Code, Tithing, and Keeping the Sabbath Day holy. These four commandments keep me clean so that I can have the companionship of the Holy Ghost. When I have the companionship of the Holy Ghost, He teaches me how to find the Savior by showing me how I can go about doing good things. The good things that the Holy Ghost leads me to do fall under four categories I share the gospel with friends, I strengthen other members of the Church, I do work in our Temples, and I care for the poor and needy. I have found that I find Jesus Christ by doing these good things under the influence of the Holy Ghost. Thus, I live my faith by staying clean and going about doing good. As a result, I have been able to enjoy constant companionship with the Holy Ghost, and several sacred experiences with the Lord.

Why are Mormons asked to donate 10% of their income to their Church?

Ryan
Tithing, or donating 10 of our income to the Church, is an ancient law. The purpose is to exercise our faith in Jesus Christ by donating to the Work of God. Our donations will allow others to receive the same blessings that I have received from Jesus Christ because tithing donations help build temples and chapels, publish scripture and other materials, and educate members of the church. Furthermore, it reminds us of Jesus' role as Redeemer in our lives. To redeem is to BUY BACK, and we remember Jesus Christ as our Redeemer when we PAY BACK ten percent of our income to Him. Finally, when we pay tithing we show gratitude. My increase comes as a blessing from God. I recognize God as my provider when I donate 10 of my increase back to Him and His work.  Show more Show less

How can I find someone to talk with, in person, about the Mormon religion?

Ryan
Great Question! You can look online in order to find the local chapel and Sunday meeting times. During the Sunday meetings will can ask those who greet you at the door to direct you to the missionaries. The missionaries will be able to teach you more about the Restored Gospel. Show more Show less

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Ryan
No. We admire, revere, and reverence him as a Prophet, but he is not the object of our worship. We worship God the Father and His Son. Joseph Smith is a revered Prophet because Jesus Christ restored all of the principles and ordinances of His gospel through Joseph Smith in our day following a period of time when certain principles of the gospel were lost. What is the role of the husband and the wife in the family?

Ryan
The husband is the head of the home, and the wife is the heart of the home. The Lord has said that He will reveal his will to the heart and to the mind Doctrine and Covenants section 6. Therefore, together the Husband and Wife will know the will of the Lord for their families and carry out His will within the walls of their homes. Their duties are to work together to follow the will of the Lord in raising righteous posterity. Through inspiration they will be guided in how to accomplish the above stated divine mandate. Posterity brings joy because posterity is the only thing that lasts- all things pass away, but our posterity will always remain.  Show more Show less
