Hi I'm Scott

I currently live in Alaska. I have been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints all my life

About Me

I was born and raised in Idaho. After I graduated from high school and received an associates dregree from the local Junior College I went into the US Air Force so that I could get more money for my education. After four years of single life in the military I went back to school where I met my wife and now we have five wonderful children. I have always enjoyed the Boy Scouts of America and maintain my membership with this organization. The values that I was taught in my youth have kept me close to the Lord and as a parent I continue to teach these values to my children

Why I am a Mormon

After I left home to make my way in the world I did not have faith enough of my own to maintain my belief in God. While I was trying to develope a faith that did not require the faith of others to hold me up I asked myself several questions. How do the people of this religeon - - look at others? - talk about others? - treat those in need? - act when they think no one is watching? - live the values that Jesus Christ taught? - teach concerning a living God? Through these and many other questions I came to an understanding that God does live, and knows and loves each of us as individuals. Jesus Christ, God's only begotten son, came to earth to live a life of service. Preforming miricles of love, showing his love by giving service, giving all - that we may live again. I know that Jesus Christ lives, and he leads, guides and teaches us through Prophets.

How I live my faith

From the bible we learn what Jesus Christ knows about us: "I know thy works, and charity, and service, and faith, and thy patience, and thy works; and the last to be more that the first." (Revelations 2:19). From the Book of Mormon (another testiment of Jesus Christ) we learn: And Behold, I tell you these things that ye may learn wisdom; that ye may learn that when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God. (Mosiah 2:17) I know that I am happiest when I am serving others. Some of the ways I serve Him is by: Teaching Youth values. Teaching geneology and family history. Helping people in time of need.

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

It may appear to some that Mormons only help Mormons, but I am here to tell you that we Mormons will help anyone who askes. In many cases when you live close to a Mormon family they may see a need that you have and just pitch in and help. We as members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints follow the teachings of Jesus Christ. In Matthew 25:40 we read "Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me." After a heavy snow storm my children like to help others in our neighborhood shovel their driveways. We don't ask if they need help, we just grab the shovels and snowblower and go and help. On a much larger scale there have been several major natural disasters around the world recently. As a church Mormons have sent supplies and needed materials to help our fellow man get back on their feet. Show more Show less
