Hi I'm Chelsea

I joined the Mormon church when I was 16. I have 3 children, I'm a special education teacher, and a foster parent. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother of 3. I have an 8 year old boy, a 4 year old girl and a 1 year old girl. I have my bachelor's degree in Child Development my Special Education teaching license. I am currently working on my Master's Degree in Special Education and I teach high school special education part time. I spend the rest of my time with my three children. I am also a foster parent and we currently have a 17 year old foster daughter living with us. I love to read and attend a book club with my friends. I enjoy horseback riding, but I don't have time to go very often. We have four chickens, two cats, and a dog. This summer we went to Yellowstone National Park and camped for a week, it was a lot of fun.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was a child, I was always looking for a church to join. My mom used to take me to the Presbyterian church with her occasionally, and I enjoyed it, but I would have liked to go more often. As I got older I read the bible and went to different religious services with my friends in search of a church to join. None of them seemed quite right and as I read the bible I didn't understand why in the bible there were prophets and temples, but why we didn't have them on earth today. My second cousins were members of the Mormon church and I only saw them about once every two years because they lived in Utah and I lived in California. One time when I was a young teenager we got together I asked them questions about their church and they gave me a book of Mormon. Then few years later an aquaintance in California invited me to attend the Mormon church with her. I didn't think that there were any Mormon churches in California, so when I found out, I was happy to go with her. Then the missionaries began to teach me. I learned that like in Biblical times, the Mormon church has a prophet and apostles to lead them and temples to worship and perform ordinances in. As I read the Book of Mormon and spoke to the missionaries the Holy Ghost testified to me that everything was true. I was soon baptized. I have been a member of the church for 13 years now and I have never been happier. I know that if I live the gospel Jesus Christ that I will be happy and that I can be with my family forever.

How I live my faith

At church I am the activity Day leader for the girls ages 8-11. I teach them on Sundays and twice a month we get together and have activities that are fun and educational. I also attend a play group with friends from church, have girls nights out, do service for other members of the church or the community, and attend church meetings. And I sing in the church chior. Outside of church I am active in the foster parent community and I volunteer at my childrens' schools.
