Hi I'm Alex

I am fascinated with foreign languages. I love to play the drums and sing loudly in the shower. I am a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Alex. I just returned from serving a full-time mission in St. Louis Missouri. Right now I am living in Costa Rica! Thrill for me comes from being on a motorcycle or behind a set of drums. I am the oldest of 5, and my family is very tight knit- I love my parents and each one of my siblings so much! My greatest aspiration is to be a successful husband and dad someday and raise a righteous family. Another one of my dreams is the able to communicate with more of my brothers and sisters from different parts of the world - Africa, China, France, Italy, Tonga, and more. It is such a strange experience to smile in silence at someone that looks, thinks, prays, and laughs like I do, but be completely unable to understand their words. I believe words are powerful, I want more words.

Why I am a Mormon

I believe there are more than five senses. We all have the ability to detect spiritual truths through the Holy Ghost. Thanks to that ability I have recieved an answer to my prayers about the message of the restoration. Again and again throughout my life I have received a confirmation that this church is true and as a result my faith just keeps growing!

How I live my faith

During this two-year mission experience, I get to devote all of my time to either the study or preaching of, the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I feel like if we are truly becoming like Christ-which is central to our mortal existence- the people around us should be able to feel in a small measure the goodness and love of the God we serve. I really love what one of the church leaders named Bishop H. David Burton said "I want to live my life in such a way that those who know me but don't know Christ, will want to know Christ, because they know me." That is a tall aspiration but through being consistant in daily prayer, scripture study, and service, I think we can grow to have such a positive influence.

What is faith?

To have faith is to have confidence in something. God has placed us in a condition life on earth where we are required to be obedient to him even though we don't have the satisfaction of full sensory awareness of Him. We take small steps of obedience and sacrifice fueled by perhaps nothing more than a desire for God to really exist until we receive spiritual confirmations of the correctness of those small steps. Gradually the steps become larger and the resulting confirmations build our confidence- or faith. There are many fruits of having strong faith. Some of which include miracles, healings, revelation or simply enabling power to endure hardship that would otherwise be too much to bear.  Show more Show less
