Hi I'm Brenton

I'm a college student who loves technology, cars, and traveling the world. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm an college student majoring in International Studies and minoring in Spanish. I love technology, and I love seeing the world. After serving as a missionary in Argentina I've grown to love the Argentine culture and latin culture. Cycling, Photography, and video editing are among my many other passions in life.

Why I am a Mormon

Being a Mormon allows me to more fully understand the "hows" and "whys" of life. It helps me know who I am and provides the special perspective needed to see that. It helps me know we have a Heavenly Father who loves us and wants us to progress to reach our full potential. The Gospel of Jesus Christ allows me comprehend a little more each day the reasons for which Jesus Christ was sent to earth, what his atonement was, and explains why his message has infinite and eternal importance for me personally. The great plan of happiness is something that has filled my life with light, comprehension, and purpose with which words can hardly do justice.

How I live my faith

As a Sunday School teacher I am given the great opportunity and blessing to prepare lessons to give to fellow members of the faith. I do this by reading about the great prophets of old and parallel them with the words of prophets and apostles of modern times. Being able to see the Lord's hand touch countless lives on a personal level has opened my eyes to see how he is very much aware of each person's feelings, experiences, achievements and sorrows. He is just as aware of his children in times of old as his is of each of us today. Seeing how much he cares about each one of us has given me the chance to direct my own efforts in a way that attempts to parallel his, even in small ways. Through something as simple as a lesson in Sunday School, he has blessed me with the opportunity to understand his eternal and never-ending works.

What do Mormons believe about "eternal life?"

Brenton
One of the most stirring questions one can ask is "what is the purpose of life?". If a member of the Mormon faith were only allowed to answer that in one word, it would be "progression". We are here on Earth with a purpose. Each person born is a spiritual son or daughter of a Heavenly Father, a supreme being who created us in his image. He loves us, just like any father loves his child. He wants us to do well, and be happy. He wants us to succeed, but he cannot do it for us. Eternal Life is the life of our Heavenly Father. Essentially - to live together with our families forever in a state of full joy and happiness. Eternal Life requires that one abide by perfect eternal laws and principles. However, we are imperfect beings in an imperfect world. Our Heavenly Father knew this, so he sent his son to atone for our sins, which are the cause of the imperfection. Because he did this, we have the chance to receive eternal life if we are repentant. By following our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ through our own free will and choice, we will receive all the blessings our Heavenly Father can has promised us - living in an infinite state of happiness with our loved ones.
