Hi I'm Jenesis

I grew up in foster care. Use to be baptist. Recently got married. Went to acting school. Love politics. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love football, more watching then playing. I am pre-law studying theatre education and political science. I studied in the American Academy of Dramatic arts right out of high school and then decided to use my stage presence to perform in front of people and help impact the world. I grew up in foster care and saw how foster children are often neglected and mistreated. I am very thankful to be where I am in life with a job and studying in a great university. I love the sun and the outdoors. Sometimes my roommate and I just sleep outside on the balcony. I love to watch movies.

Why I am a Mormon

I was 18 years old a senior in high school and a sunday school and awanas teacher in my local baptist church. life was going good for me. i had a great plan graduate high school, marry a soon to be baptist pastor, and go to a baptist school. There was only one hang up the Lord had a different plan for me. I went to the Mormon church mostly because of my good friend. I didn't expect anything to come of it. I read the Book of Mormon to prove it wrong. At this point in time i had read the bible through cover to cover five times. I thought surly i can use my bible knowledge to find all the flaws a discrepancies in their book of mormon. Yet as i read it my heart began to change. Rather then tearing it apart i began to feel it was true. When i finished i did as the book ask, i knelled and prayed. in my prayer i pleaded with the God to know his will and to have his understanding. By the end of my prayer i knew the book of mormon was true. this did not however make my choice any easier. I still had to overcome many struggles and repent of my sins. So why am I Mormon? because God has told me to be mormon. he has testified to me the truthfulness of The Book of Mormon, of prophets in our days, and the blessings that come as i live the words they teach. I love having the Bible the Book of Mormon and scriptures from the Prophet in our times.

How I live my faith

Living the gospel of Jesus Christ is a day to exercise of my faith. Every day I choose between things of the world and God. One way I live my faith is by devoting my time and attention to the things that matter most in the eternal scheme of things. I focus on my God, my Family, my Callings, and my Friends. For me a focus on God comes when I choose to keep his commandments. For example though I am a full time student I do not do homework on Sunday in order to keep the Lords Sabbath day holy. I focus on my family by honoring the promises I made with my husband and God in the temple. In the temple we are sealed to our spouses for a eternity, this means that we are married to them for not just this life but for eternity. We promise God to love and honor our spouses and to follow the word of God as we keep this promises we receive great blessings in our lives including the ability to overcome the difficult times. Recently I have faced a lot of health problems which has brought a lot of stress for me and my husband. Through it all we knew that our Heavenly Father was there looking out for us. As we draw upon his promised blessings through prayer and scripture study we could feel the strength that comes from Him. In the Mormon Church there are no paid clergy so we all receive callings to help the church run. As we work in these callings we are able to learn about ourselves and our testimony in the Savior grows as we lean upon him to help us in our weakened state do His work.

Why is authority to perform a baptism important?

When i think of the importance of having authority or permission to act in Gods name it makes me think of how many people abuse Gods name. Many murders have been performed in Gods name. It is important that when using Gods name we have His permission. Also it is like an ice cream truck pulling us over for speeding. Even if we were speeding we would not listen to him because he does not have the authority. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe about the Bible? Do they regard it as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

I love the Bible. To date I have read The Bible 8 times. Before I joined the church the Bible was all I had. Know with the Book of Mormon and other revelation from Prophets in our times I understand the Bible even better. We believe the Bible is the sacred word of God. We believe it is a miracle that we have these holy words that help us come closer to our Savior. I am so thankful for the reformers and all the work they did to make the Bible accessible. If it was not for the Bible I would not be a member of this church. The Bible teaches of Christ Church and doctrines. Through this I was able to better recognize the Mormon Church as Christ Church just as it is found in the Holy Bible. Show more Show less
