Hi I'm Amanda

It's nice to meet you! I'm glad to be a Mormon.

About Me

I like my husband. He goes to school for English literature, I work full-time as an editor and sometimes I work as his personal editor. We eat good food and watch good movies and read good books.

Why I am a Mormon

I believe that being Mormon is a way to live that will make me happier than anything else and will last longer than anything else in this world, because it's not of this world. The gospel comes from a loving God, and it tells me that He knows who I am and that He loves me and blesses me every day. Being Mormon gives me real purpose in my life.

How I live my faith

I love being a part of the organization that is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I am a part of a ward unit based on my geographical area, and here, I have a built-in community to be a part of. I go to church each Sunday and see the people in my ward. We learn together about the gospel and try to find ways to improve how we live it. Here, I can be a part of something bigger than myself and feel comfortable among others like me. We are unified through our beliefs. This is a huge support in my life.

How can faith in Jesus Christ influence us in our marriages and family relationships? in our friendships?

True faith in Jesus Christ influences our behavior, especially the way we treat others. When we have faith in Christ, we are motivated to become like Him. Jesus' central quality was His selfless love for everyone around him. When we become like Him, our love for our spouses and family members increases. We treat them with greater respect and love. We desire to serve them and put our own interests aside for their welfare. And when we do these things, we feel the love Jesus Christ has for us and for our family members. The teachings of Jesus Christ help me to serve others and become a better wife, a better daughter, a better sister, a better friend. Show more Show less

Mormons believe Jesus Christ is their Savior. Why do we need a Savior?

In this life, everyone sins and makes mistakes. In this life, everyone is human. In this life, everyone suffers from pain. In this life, everyone experiences death. We need a Savior because we are humans experiencing mortality. The Savior's Atonement makes it possible for us to be made whole and perfect, eventually, to become like God. Because Jesus Christ suffered for our sins, he understands us perfectly. He is our advocate with God the Father, and through Him, we can be forgiven when we fall short. Someday we can live with God again and be together forever with our families because of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Show more Show less
