Hi I'm Megan

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a wife and a mom. I love to read, do crafts, and go running, but more than anything I love spending time with my family!

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I feel I belong when I'm at church. I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior, and I'm trying my best to be like Him. I always fall short, but being around others who are doing their best just like me gives me hope that I can make it. One of the things that makes Mormons unique among other Christian denominations is that we believe that the Book of Mormon as well as the Bible is the word of God. We also believe that God speaks to prophets in our day just as he did anciently. I'm a Mormon because I've prayed to know for myself that the Book of Mormon is true and that God really does speak to a prophet today. I've knelt down and asked God if it's true. And it is! I can't really describe how I know...just like I can't describe how it feels to love my children...but I just know in my heart that it really is true!

How I live my faith

To me, living my faith means following Christ. I try to do what He would have me do. I try to be a good neighbor, a good citizen, and a caring wife, mother and friend. I also have the opportunity to serve other Church members. Mormon congregations don't have any paid pastors or clergy--we volunteer to run the programs of the Church. I have had the opportunity to teach children, work work in our youth programs, plan activities and projects for our women's organization, and plan fun parties and activities for my congregation. Another way I live my faith is through a program our Church calls Visiting Teaching. Once a month I visit with several women from my congregation to see how they are doing and share a message about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I have built lasting friendships through my Visiting Teaching experience.

What is the Church’s position on abortion?

We believe that life is a sacred gift from God. We believe that abortion is wrong except in cases of rape or incest or where the mother's life is at serious risk. Show more Show less

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Mormon's don't worship Joseph Smith. We believe he was a prophet like Moses and Noah. God spoke to him just as he spoke to the prophets of old, and we respect and revere him just like we respect them. Show more Show less

What is the Book of Mormon?

The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ. It contains the writings of prophets who lived on the American contintent in ancient times. God revealed his gospel to them just as he revealed it to the prophets of the Bible. It teaches us about Jesus Christ. We believe the Bible and the Book of Mormon are the word of God. Why do Mormons perform baptisms for the dead?

We believe that God is just and merciful. We know that we have been commanded to be baptized as Jesus was however, not everyone has the opportunity to hear the gospel and be baptized while they are alive. As Mormons, we perform baptisms for the dead so that those who weren't able to be baptized while they were alive still have the opportunity to receive baptism. They will have the choice to accept the baptism that has been done on their behalf. Show more Show less
