Hi I'm Jordan

I'm a web designer & engineer from Denver, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My wife and I have three kids – two girls and a boy. I'm a web designer & engineer and I like music, reading, skiing, and biking.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon for at least two reasons: 1) Because of the way the church is organized, I am constantly given opportunities to serve others and to actually practice (not just profess) Christianity. I have also had the pleasure of getting to know many people who have had a positive influence on my life and left me better for having known them. 2) I believe that the doctrines taught in the church are true. As I have studied the Book of Mormon and the Bible and tried to apply the things taught in the church, I have come to know through the Spirit of God that they are true. That conviction deepens when I make a concerted effort to follow God's will. In general, being a member of this church has brought me many blessings and for that reason, I feel grateful to be a part of it.

How I live my faith

I think the best way for me to live my faith is by following the example set by Jesus Christ—trying to live as He lived, and according to the things He taught. This includes things like... - caring for and serving others - being honest - praying - obeying appropriate laws of chastity - having faith - reading the scriptures ...and so on. So, this is what I make an effort to do. I'm not perfect by any means, but I keep trying and God helps me. I've seen many good things come into my life from applying these principles, and it has brought me happiness, fulfillment and peace.

What is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' attitude regarding homosexuality and same sex marriage?

We believe that the practice of homosexuality will not bring people true happiness because it is against what God has commanded us to do (otherwise known as sin). However, we do no believe that the people who commit those kinds of acts or who have a hard time avoiding them are bad - every person on earth is a son or daughter of God. Unfortunately, every one of us commits sin, and this practice is just another of those sins that some commit. We believe that a person can and should avoid practicing homosexuality. Families are important to us as Mormons and we believe they are important to God and that He created families to be male and female together, with children. Practicing homosexuality tends to undermine these principles. Show more Show less

Can husband and wife be together forever? Do you believe that families will live together in heaven?

You may have heard of or seen our Church's temples. One of the things we do inside is what we call eternal marriage. It is a simple marriage ceremony, but the only difference from other ceremonies is that it comes with promises of being able to be with your spouse and children forever. This is one of the greatest gifts we can receive. It is possible through the priesthood, which was restored through the prophet Joseph Smith. I had a marriage ceremony like this with my wife, Tori, in a temple. It has been wonderful for us to have the knowledge that we will be together forever, not just "til death do you part." It affects everything we do and the decisions we make together. I am very grateful that God has once again given His children this opportunity. Show more Show less

Do Mormons practice polygamy?

No. The church does not condone or teach polygamy. You may have seen people in the news or on TV who say they are Mormon and practice polygamy—those people are not, in fact, Mormon. They are a radical branch which has split off from the original church. The church takes this topic seriously and any member who practices polygamy in our church can even lose their membership if they don't stop. Show more Show less

How can we stop the spread and influence of pornography?

There are many reasons to stop the spread of pornography, even if you do not believe that it is against the commandments of God. I will not outline them all here, but you can look them up yourself. We can stop the spread of pornography by being proactive and persistent in our efforts to have it banned by officials with the power to do so. I know of one couple who got their city (which was quite large) completely "cleaned" of all strip clubs and other such places by persistent work with officials in the city. It is possible, we just need to have the motivation and drive to get it done. For more information on this subject and a way to get involved, visit the Citizens For Decency site at cleanminds.org. What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

Mormon women are just normal women. They have families, dress in regular clothes, have jobs, etc. You wouldn't be able to tell them apart from any other women. Mormons believe completely in the equality of men and women. They are obviously inherently different, but are of equal worth and importance to God and to us, and we teach that in our church. Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

We do not. We worship God only. In fact, that is a commandment. We believe that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and I personally think he was a good man, but we do not worship him in any way. Show more Show less
