Hi I'm Jordan

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am married with three children and I love spending time with my family. My favourite sport is basketball - I enjoy playing it and watching the NBA when I can.

Why I am a Mormon

Although I grew up as a member of the Church, I always knew that it was my choice to stay in the Church or not. When I was a teenager, the teachings of the Church always seemed to make sense when compared to other creeds but I wasn't sure if that meant that they were true. After study, prayer and trying to live by the gospel teachings, I came to know my God better and felt his love. God has revealed to me personally, because I have asked Him, that he is there and his Church has been restored on the earth in our time. As I have continued to try and live the teachings of the gospel, I feel more at peace, I am happier and I feel better equipped to cope with life's challenges! I have received answers to my prayers, I know God is there and he loves me.

How I live my faith

I serve as the Bishop of my local congregation. This means that I help to teach those who attend the Sunday meetings. I assist in running the Sunday services and other services such as weddings. I also help those who attend our church with personal problems that they might be experiencing. I find my service in the church greatly rewarding as I meet with people individually and we are able to share our faith with each other. I learn so much in carrying out my activities as a Bishop and I am grateful the opportunity that this provides me.

What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?

We try to live by the teachings of the gospel. For example, we will start and end our day with a family prayer, in addition to personal prayers and prayers at meal times. Communicating with God is very important for us so as well as praying we will study from the scriptures and the words of the prophets, where we can learn God's will for us. As a practising Mormon, I don't go out socialising in bars and pubs. I prefer to spend time with my family or have a get together with friends at home. We are careful about the media and entertainment that we consume. We try to avoid negative and offensive content. We attend Church every Sunday and we often have social events at the Church at other times, such as dances or sports nights. Show more Show less

What is the Church’s position on abortion?

We believe in the sanctity of life. We oppose abortion, particularly in relation to its use as a form of contraception. We accept that there may be reason for a prospective mother to consider abortion in cases of rape or under the threat of serious danger to the mother's health. These reasons alone may not however automatically mean that a mother should abort - it is a decision that she must make herself, after receiving counsel from medical professionals and her Bishop and through personal revelation from the Lord in prayer.
