Hi I'm Marilyn

I love history, my family, and the gospel of Jesus Christ. I belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

About Me

I have been married for nearly 40 years. My three children and seven grandchildren are the joy and blessing of my life. We all live in Maryland where we enjoy fishing, hiking, biking, gardening, bluebirds, and fireflies. I returned to college after my children were in middle school, graduating with my Bachelors degree in management followed by a Masters of Science in Management with a specialty in Nonprofit Management. During this time I worked on behalf of children helping early and middle childhood teachers become more educated and skilled in their work. Currently I work as the Director of Communications and Membership for AAAPT, helping to promote physics education and increase public awareness of the importance of scientific literacy in public policy decisions. Family Search Indexing is a favorite hobby. I enjoy being part of something so enduring.

Why I am a Mormon

When I ponder the grandeur of the universe and the order of the smallest known systems I stand in awe at the beauty and complexity of creation. I trust the Creator to help me make something better of my life than I can make on my own because, as my Eternal Father, He knows me better than I know myself and He knows the end from the beginning. I have tried living the principles of the gospel for many decades and have learned that I enjoy the most blessings, joy, and peace when I follow the guidance of the Holy Ghost and the prophets, both those who are living and those whose words are preserved in the scriptures. They all help me understand my role in the plan and how to have joy through the storms we encounter in this mortal pilgrimage.

How I live my faith

My faith is central to my life with gratitude to my Savior, Jesus Christ, for his example, love, obedience, sacrifice, and willingness to make possible The Father's plan of happiness, as the guiding principle. I have been blessed to serve in His kingdom, to have the priesthood in my home, and to be sealed to my family in the temple. Each day I pray for opportunities to lift and bless the lives of others and to act on those opportunities when they arrive.

Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

The Book of Mormon is a compilation of many sacred records authored by those authorized by the Lord to keep and preserve the history of a people. It begins with the writings of Nephi around 600 BC in Jerusalem and ends with the writings and editorial work of Moroni around 400 AD in the Western Hemisphere. Show more Show less
