Hi I'm Alli

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to read and work in my garden. I have been married for 12 years. My husband and I struggled for almost 6 years to have children. We went through numerous fertility procedures until we were finally blessed with twins. They are six now and have totally completed me! I love them so much but worry about them daily. The world we live in can be CRAZY! Part of me wants to shelter them but I know that I can't. The only thing I can do is teach them what is right and pray that they remember! Being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has been such a blessing for me as a mother. I teach them about Jesus at home and then on Sundays they go to Primary and those concepts are reinforced. My life is far from perfect but I feel like I have an army behind me, supporting me in my role as a mom.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I wanted to know for myself if the faith of my family was right. This is what I chose and keep choosing every day-- to be a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I belong to the Relief Society. It is an organization of women ages 18 and older. We have regular meetings that teach us different skills like cooking, organizing, sewing and coping with different trials in our lives- just to name a few. I really enjoy participating in these meetings! I probably wouldn't strike up a conversation with ladies I didn't think I had anything in common with. But by going to these meetings I have learned some really vital skills and lessons from women half my age and double my age! Everyone has had different experiences and Relief Society has taught me to get out of my 'bubble' and enjoy these ladies!

What is the Law of Chastity?

Alli
The Law of Chastity is a command we have been given to keep sexual relations within the bonds of marriage. It teaches us the sacredness of marriage and gives the whole act of sex a beautiful and cherished meaning. Show more Show less

What is being a Mormon like?

Alli
It's awesome! It's like having a huge extended family that will support and help you whenever they can. It makes you happy because you have a sense of purpose and a knowledge that you are not alone. It makes you a better friend, neighbor, brother/sister, father/mother... all that because you are taught lessons of the Savior and how to become like Him through personal study of the scriptures and lessons taught in Sunday meetings. I love what our prophet, President Gordon B. Hinckley said on Larry King Live a few years ago. He said 'We make good men better'. This statement couldn't be MORE true! It will give you a guide for your life that will give you insurmountable joy and peace! It makes me better and I know it will help you too. Show more Show less

What is the Word of Wisdom that Mormons talk about?

Alli
The Word of Wisdom is a command we have been given to help us stay healthy. We are asked to not drink alcohol or smoke and to stay away from any substance that is addictive. When we are addicted to anything-- morning coffee, diet coke, things like that-- it is hard to think of anything else at times. The Gospel of Jesus Christ teaches that we should not be a slave to our appetites. We should exhert self control in all things so that we can be nearer to him.   Show more Show less
