Hi I'm Dave Simons

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a dad, step dad, and a grandfather. I work for myself in the sharpening field, tools, knives ect. A few years ago I had many inerests that did not inclued my family. Now, my interests are my family, building new relationships and spending time with the ones I love.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the Church, my family fell apart and we fell away from the Church when I was twelve. I did not continue on the path and ways of the Church. Fourty years later I had an heated discussion with my brother about the book of Mormon, I was right and he was right, niether one of us had read the book of Mormon. I told him that I would call him back after I had read the book, we still have discussions on the book of Mormon but, now I am right. My dad returned to the Church some years ago and one day he looked at me and said "I would like to take you to the Temple" and I said ok! lets go!, he looked at me with a look that I will never foeget and said "they won't let you in". That hit me hard, I have told myself and others that I love and believe in God and in his Son Jesus Christ for years and then I read, Jesus speaking "you love your father with your lips, but, your heart is far from him". I tried and tried to read and to pray every day and I kept falling away from doing so. Then one day things were pretty crazy in my feelings and my thoughts and I didn't know what to do so, I sat in my chair pondering on what was happening and I realized that I had fallen away again! that brought tears to my eyes. I sliped out of my chair and landed on my knees and started to pray, with tears in my eyes I made a promise to God that I would not stop searching, at that moment my life changed. Then some days later I read "when obedience ceases to become an irritant and becomes our quest, in that moment, God will endow us with power". To be in the true Church of Jesus Christ and to be in his service has help me turn my faith into action. And now I can enter in The House of The LORD.

How I live my faith

The thing that has changed the most in my life is that I care about people. I volunteer my time and talents to my neighbors and community, my calling in the Church I am a High Counselor and my assignment is family history and Temple work. I am also a Temple worker and have been for all most five years. I am involved in most members lives and the families that I home teach, if there is a need I try to help. I travel to various Church buildings to speak and teach the members how to find their ancestors and why it is important to do so. The Lord has expanded our Stake boundaries and we became a new Stake, I am in the process of organizing our first Stake Temple day.

Why was a Restoration of the Gospel needed? Haven’t we always had the Bible?

Dave Simons
We know from reading the Bible that the Gospel has always been here in one form or another, we also know that there has been a “famine of hearing the word”. We know that the authority of God was taken from the earth after Jesus Christ was crucified which lead us to; (the great apostasy) or the (falling away). The only way we can qualify ourselves for the eternities is through the atonement of Jesus Christ and through the restoration of all things spoken of in Acts. We now have (because of a loving Heavenly Father) all the Gospel principles and ordinances or (Gospel in its fulness) we need to qualify ourselves to enter back into the percents of God. If not for the restoration or restitution of all things the world would be smitten with a cruse (Malachi). Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe happens to us after we die? What do Mormons believe about life after death?

Dave Simons
I think that most people believe in Heaven or life after death, that we will be with God after we die. Most people believe that we are saved by our faith alone. Nothing in this life is free. We have had to work for everything that we have. All things in this life we had to qualify ourselves for. Same with the life to come, that’s why we are here to qualify ourselves for the Eternities. We can read in the book of John that faith without works is dead. When Jesus Christ was on the earth he had faith in his Father but, “He went about doing good” (works). He proved himself with his works. So, yes we do believe in the world to come, in the Eternities and we will ALL be there. Will we be with God? It is a matter of qualifying. Show more Show less

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

Dave Simons
For me it started with desire, I had the desire to know! Threw my prayers and personal study of the Scriptures, fasting and attending Church. Each day I felt closer and closer to my Heavenly Father. Show more Show less
