Hi I'm Dana

I was born and raised by wonderful parents in the central San Joaquin valley. I became a Mormon when I was 17 years old.

About Me

I married my High School sweetheart. We met in the cafeteria as juniors in high school. It was the late sixties and we seem to fit right in to the flower child movement. It was a great time and we enjoyed it together. She went off to college and I stayed home...we have 6 years of letters ...when we finally found each other again we got married. We were blessed with seven beautiful children, six boys and one girl. Everyone always knew when she was pregnant because that was when i got to grow a beard. I started my last beard when i was 45 just to enjoy the reactions. Raising our children in the gospel of Jesus Christ always seemed so right. We knew the church was true but sometimes we would think that even if it wasn't we would do things the same way. All the children are gone now...spread out all over the country. There was a lot of fun and games, a lot of happiness, but looking back we found that with Christ in our lives that the happiness became Joy and the joy ran deep.

Why I am a Mormon

My sweetheart grew up a member of the Mormon church but i joined when i was seventeen. Honestly, in the beginning i was focused on her, she had certain expectations and i was willing to rise to all of them including joining the church and serving a full time two year mission because she was beautiful and i wanted to win her. Looking back I do not think it mattered to the Lord whether i had a personal conviction of the church because when i joined i received the Holy ghost after i was baptized and that was and is his role... to testify of truth. Today the conviction is sure, firm and grounded in a life time of experiences. I have tested the promises of the scriptures i know for myself. Why am I a Mormon because my membership in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints blesses me with everything i need to understand my purposes on this earth, helps me to be a good father and husband, affords me the opportunity to serve others, and helps me to understand God's expectations of me.

How I live my faith

I believe with all my heart that when i am serving my fellow men that i am serving my Savior. I suppose for some that it may seem like i am reaching to far when i choose to live my life on the Lord's terms, espically as a Mormon where some may think a lot is expected. The Savior has a great work to do here on the earth. He wants us to understand the purposes of the atonement. He wants us to read the scriptures and follow his example...that is how i live my faith. When i am successful in living the way the Savior wants me to I honor him before the world.

Mormons believe Jesus Christ is their Savior. Why do we need a Savior?

Dana
What is the purpose of this earth? Of our lives? If you believe that we were created by a loving Heavenly Father for the purpose of getting a body, that we could someday be like him then the need for a Savior becomes critical. He is the reason all mankind does not drown in their own mistakes. He will reach down and pull us out of the water as often as we extend our hand for help. And he will weep for those that refuse to ask. Show more Show less
