Hi I'm Jon

We sold our home, left our jobs, and moved our 4 kids to CA to serve in a non-paid position for 3 years with Mormon missionaries.

About Me

I'm an Arizona native who moved to Texas in 2001 after my wife and I finished our education. In June 2014, we sold our home, left our jobs, and moved our 4 children to California to serve for 3 years with 292 Mormon missionaries. We love the missionaries - they are terrific role models for our children. In addition to sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ, our family has enjoyed jogging, hiking, basketball, body surfing/boarding, and visiting the San Diego Zoo.

Why I am a Mormon

Living the gospel makes me happy and I believe that the gospel of Jesus Christ will bring real joy to everyone who follows Jesus Christ. When I was a teenager, I recall praying while on a family vacation in California to know whether Joseph Smith was really a prophet and, subsequently, that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was God's church on earth. This prayer occurred at the home of a family friend who was not a Mormon. But there, at the foot of a bunk bed, I received my answer -- an overwhelming feeling of love, joy, and peace, the likes of which I had never experienced before. This was God's answer to me and I've never forgotten it. While I've made plenty of mistakes since then, that experience let me know in a very personal way that God knows me, that He answers my prayers, and that the Holy Spirit is real. Since that time several years ago, many additional experiences have strengthened my faith in Jesus Christ - that He died for my sins, was actually resurrected, and lives today.

How I live my faith

I do my best to follow Jesus' two great commandents: to love God and my neighbor, especially with my family. Each day, we pray and read something from the scriptures. Then we try to apply Jesus' teachings by showing love and kindness to those we meet throughout the day. It's a simple formula that brings real joy.
