Hi I'm Darlene

I have lived in 10 different states in the United States. I love serving others. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a wife to a retired Air Force officer, a mother to four grown "kids", and a previous foster mom to over 30 amazing kids who still hold a special place in my heart. I love to read young adult fiction, spend time on the beach, and critique restaurants. I spend most of my spare time in the kitchen or on the internet. I love to smile. My husband, my family, and my faith bring me the greatest joy!

Why I am a Mormon

Through church attendance, scripture study, and prayer, I have developed a testimony of Jesus Christ as my Savior and Redeemer. I know I am a daughter of a Heavenly Father that loves me. I love Him. I believe Christ has restored His church on the earth today in preparation from his second coming. I believe he has provided a living prophet to help guide us during these times. I know he hears and answers prayers. The Savior’s grace has been ever present throughout my life. His grace has been like a spotter in weight lifting. It helps me just enough to bring the weights back to the top. But not too much, or I would never benefit from it. It is from these heaviest moments that I have gained the most strength. I've seen the blessings of Christ’s atonement in my life. The more I serve others, the closer I feel to my Savior. I am grateful for an eternal Father that presented this perfect plan for us to return home to Him. I am grateful for Jesus Christ who sacrificed all to become our Savior and Redeemer. I have a firm testimony that through the atonement and resurrection of Jesus Christ, we are able to have all the blessings that allow us to return to our Heavenly Father as eternal families. Through these blessings, we can experience the true joys of life on this earth. We can feel peace and happiness. Even during times of trails, if we will allow His grace to refine us and bring us closer to Him.

How I live my faith

I believe Jesus Christ set the perfect example of service to others. I strive each day to follow his example to the best of my ability. Each morning I pray for opportunites to lift other's burdens and then seek those opportunities out. Each week I help teach and guide the young women (age 12-18) from my congregation to realize they are daughters of a Heavenly Father who knows and loves them. I help them develope talents and skills that will help them be strong and positive influences for their peers. I volunteer at a local food pantry and public schools. I do my best to make sure my husband and children know how much I love and apprecitate them.

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

Darlene
Most Mormon women I know (including myself) are strong willed, capable, and faithful women. We put our faith in God and rely on our Savior, Jesus Christ, as we strive to be strong role models to others. We take the role as wife and mother on as God given responsibilities that come with immeasurable blessings. We come from all walks of life, speak different languages, and have varying degrees, interests, and hobbies. What we have in common is the knowledge that we are all daughters of God. We strive to stand firm as we strengthen our homes and our families by developing faith, divine nature, individual worth, knowledge, choice and accountability, good works, charity, integrity, and virtue in ourselves, our children, and all we associate with. And most of us love socializing and having fun! We believe that men and women are equal in importance but have different gifts and talents. We complement each other and strengthen each other. Individually we may be amazing, but together, we make a powerful team! Show more Show less
