Hi I'm Chris

Becoming a Mormon has made my life better than I ever thought possible...

About Me

Hey, I'm a 23 year old guy just getting back into college after spending two years as a Snowboard Bum. I love the outdoors, backpacking, climbing, floating, and especially snowboarding! When not enjoying nature I also love running, the gym, and ballroom dancing. Currently I'm working on my bachelors in Communications.

Why I am a Mormon

To be straightforward, becoming a Mormon saved my life. I had no direction before, no goals, and if there was a God I figured that He just didn't have any use for me. My experiences in dozens of other churches reinforced this horribly wrong mindset. The Message that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints offers is life changing. I've given up so many harmful habits and addictions in exchange for purpose and goals for a wonderful future. I know now that my Heavenly Father truly does love me, He knows me, and through the many hard trials of this mortal life He is helping me become the best "Chris" that I can possibly be! I'm happier now that I've ever felt before, my Ward has extended love to me I've never thought possible, and even tho trials keep coming that force me to grow, I could never bring myself to live my life any other way. I've lived my life the other way; I know that there is so much more than "Fresh Powder" and clubs. The best part is, I'm not an exception. The blessings of the Restored Gospel apply to anyone that is willing to listen!

How I live my faith

For me it's all about the day to day. I became Mormon when I was 22, and for personal reasons won't be able to serve a mission. For that reason I strive to keep improving my life through service, prayer and scripture study. For the majority of my first year as a member I was the Ward Mission Leader, so on a weekly or sometimes daily basis I was out working with the missionaries, helping them do what they needed to do, and in the process seeing my own faith grow by leaps and bounds!

What blessings can we receive through the gift of the Holy Ghost?

Chris
His constant companionship brings many wonderful things. Personal Revelation, peace amidst hardships, and the encouragement to keep going come to mind. Show more Show less

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

Chris
There are 4 lessons that are standard, but they can be taught in a variety of ways as directed by the Holy Ghost. Some of the topics that will be covered are: The Restoration, Who is Joseph Smith, What is the Book of Mormon, the importance of Families, the Plan of Salvation, the Atonement, and the Commandments. Open discussion about your feelings and beliefs is encouraged, and they LOVE to answer any questions that you have. Show more Show less

Why is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints called Mormons or Mormonism?

Chris
It is a nick-name that comes from one of our books of scripture: The Book of Mormon Show more Show less

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Chris
It is encouraged for young men age 19+ to serve a mission, but it is not required. There are monumental blessings that come with serving a mission, but some, such as myself are unable to go, and that's ok! Show more Show less

What is Mormonism? OR What do Mormons believe?

Chris
We believe in Families. Everything in our doctrine relates in some way shape or form to the importance of having families, and growing as close to them as you are to your Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ. Show more Show less
