Hi I'm Jonathan Brant

I'm from Illinois but now reside in Utah. I'm a an audiologist who fits thousands of hearing aids. I also have strong mormon.

About Me

I am audiologist by date and an entrepreneur by night. I have lived in Illinois most of my life but have found a job in Utah. I come from a diverse religious background. My father's side of the family belongs to the Baha’i faith and are very faithful to it. I have extended family members that are Jewish, Muslim, and other Christian denominations. I have seen much of other religion but have felt right in this religion. I grew up in a single family home with 2 sisters. I have been married for almost 9 years and now have four wonderful kids. My wife and I have a typical family with normal everyday problems. I like to answer questions about religion and am often on quora doing so.

Why I am a Mormon

I did what the Book of Mormon asks you to do... pray and ask God if this book is true. I did this when I was 15 years old. I still remember that day. When I prayed and felt a full tender feeling inside that said "it's true". I continue to be a Mormon because I know my life is better following the commandments than it would be not following them. The Lord has blessed me with so much. I have a beautiful wife and children. I will soon finish school and start a career. I know that I am who I am, because of what the Gospel of this church has taught me. But even if my life fell apart, I know I could pray and ask the same question again and I would get that same feeling; yes there is still a prophet of God on the earth and that the Book of Mormon is truth.

How I live my faith

Simply, I try to do my best. Although I am not perfect, I try to follow the example of Jesus Christ. My family is my number one joy in life and I try to give them all of the time that I can. I want to be with them forever. My wife and I are very busy with church activities. I work with the young men ages 12-18 and my wife is the president of the young women (age 12-18) in our local congregation. We do many activites that are very fun with the youth but our main goal is to help the teenagers realize the importance of the choices that they make. On Tuesday night activities or in a sunday lesson or during overnight campouts get to know each person and try to relate experience from our lives and from the scriptures to help them develop faith in Jesus Christ and to develop a commitment to following Christ and the prophets that he places on this earth to lead and guide us. We commit much of our time because we care for these teenagers and know that being a teenager is hard and good friends and activities can make all the difference.

Do Mormons practice polygamy?

Jonathan Brant
Simply put No we do not practice polygamy. This is often a misconception because other religions with names similiar to ours do and people may get confused. However, in the 1800's the Lord revealed that a few members of the church could practice polygamy and they did. Since then no member of the church can practices polygamy. In fact, your name would be removed from the church membership records if you did practice polygamy. Show more Show less

Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

Jonathan Brant
Prophets wrote the Book of Mormon. Just like the Holy Bible was written by ancient prophet, the Book of Mormon was written by similar prophets on the other side of the world at roughly the same time. The prophets received revelation from the Lord about how to help their civilizations and wrote it down. Today, we can benefit from learning from their experiences by reading what they wrote. People may often be confused and think Joseph Smith Jr. wrote the Book of Mormon because he translated it but he is not the original author. Joseph Smith translated the writings of ancient prophets who wrote in reformed Egyptian to English. Show more Show less

Why was a Restoration of the Gospel needed? Haven't we always had the Bible?

Jonathan Brant
After Christ died and was resurrected the sacred writing of the prophets had to be copied and passed down from generation to generation. Without a printing press all of the copying had to be done by hand. Over time small things may have changed in the bible because no one can copy the entire bible perfectly. Because of small changes things began to become confusing. Many churches began, all using the bible as their scripture, but having different doctrines. Without having a prophet, no one could ask what should be done. So people decided for themselves what they thought would be best. This is why so many churches exist. Many have similiarites to one another but they all have differences because everyone has different opinions. God needed to call another prophet to clear up the confusion. A prophet tells what God wants not what his opinion is. Show more Show less
