Hi I'm J. Rutherford

I'm a Mormon. I love to share what I believe so just ask!

About Me

I am the youngest of six children. I married my high school sweetheart after serving our missions. We now have three children, all under age 3: identical twin boys that are 2 1/2, and a 6 month old baby girl. Some of my favorite things to do are to exercise, play soccer, go running, spend time with my family, enjoy the outdoors, do projects, photography, serve others, and learn all that I can. I love to read books about how I can become a better person. I also love kick boxing, and just love to have fun! I'm a stay at home mom, but I also work from home. I'm very busy, but I love it, and I love life! :)

Why I am a Mormon

My parents were converts after they were married and had only three children. They later had my two older siblings and myself. I was raised in the church by my parents my whole life. I may have been Mormon my entire life, but there comes a time when you grow up, and can no longer depend on your parents. You have to apply, and find out what you're parents have taught you is true. So, I did just that. I prayed and asked God if the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints is true. I got my answer by a feeling I have felt many times before. A feeling of peace, love and comfort. I knew in my heart that everything I had been taught was true. Since that day I have never forgotten that feeling. That feeling is why I am a Mormon and why I do what I do. That feeling is what I live for. I can not deny what I have felt. That feeling is what I live for. I can not deny what I have felt. I have the responsibility to do my best in this life, and to teach my family and friends about this knowledge that I have gained. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask. I'd love to answer them. Hey, why not, I'm Mormon! :)

How I live my faith

As I mentioned before I love to serve. This wasn't always the case. I always enjoyed helping others, but I didn't have a passion for it. When I was in college I was having a really hard time adapting to change. One of the best things I discovered at a young age was that whenever I helped others, I felt better about myself, my situation, and life. It made me forget about all of my worries. Service is the best medicine. Another way that I serve in the church is that I have the opportunity to serve other Mormon women by visiting them in their homes monthly. I always enjoy our visits together. This time is special to me because I can listen, uplift and develop special lifelong relationships. It's an opportunity to learn and help one another. I currently have the opportunity to work with 12 to 18 year old young women. I teach them three Sundays out of the month. I love working with these girls. They are so sweet and special. I enjoy being their friend and teaching them how to make the most out of their lives, and how to reach their greatest potential by making good choices. Something that my family participates in yearly is the March of Dimes walk. We have participated in this walk the last couple of years. This walk has become personal to us when our twin boys were born prematurely. Having them in the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) was a hard time for us, but it has changed our perspective about life and what is most valuable. We enjoy participating in other walks as well. One year I donated my hair to Locks of Love. I tried talking my husband into participating too, but he couldn't take the length of his hair any longer. So, we cut it. He made it to about 4 inches when the minimum to donate is 10 inches! I was proud of him and his efforts! :) I look forward to doing it again in the near future!

How can we stop the spread and influence of pornography?

J. Rutherford
I am strongly against pornography. I have seen first hand the effects that pornography plays on individuals and their families. This is something that I have always wanted to address and combat. I truly believe that we can stop the spread of pornography in many ways. First, by resisting any opportunities to be affected by it. If we use the internet we should have a program installed on our computers to prevent the ability to access certain websites, pop ups, etc. Secondly, we can show and have respect for ourselves and others by dressing modest. Also, by speaking kindly and respectively about our bodies and the bodies of others. Thirdly, we can develop and strengthen our families by having a time set aside each week to spend time together, and our marriages by having a date night once a week. Lastly, and most importantly, we can PRAY to have strength to resist temptations when they come our way. I know that pronography is a very real and damaging problem in today's world. I know that it can destroy families and lives. I know that if you follow these counsels you or anyone, will be able to resist pronography, especially with God's help! Show more Show less
