Hi I'm Joseph

I am a "full-time" dad with a wonder wife and five kids and a "part-time" CPA. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Utah. I am one of 11 children. I have lived in New Mexico for 7 years, then in Arizona for 16 years and currently reside in Nevada. I lived for two years in Jamaica serving a mission. I have been married for ten years. We have 5 children ages 8 years to 8 months old. I am a CPA (Certified Public Accountant). I have run a maraton alone. I enjoy lifting weights, but have not done it much since I have been married. I enjoy coaching my sons soccer team.

Why I am a Mormon

Because it answers the questions of my soul of where I came from, why I am here on earth and where I will go when I die. When I was a teenager I would pray before I read my scriptures daily and one time before I read I prayed for understanding and the Holy Spirit told me that the things I was reading was true. Before that time and after I have had many experiences which have told me this church is true and that it is the only way to live with Heavenly Father again. I know that Joseph Smith saw Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ and that he was called as a prophet of God like Moses. And just as Moses was called to lead the children of Isreal to the promised land. Joseph Smith and each succeeding prophet has been called also to lead us back to live with our Heavenly Father.

How I live my faith

I begin and end each day with prayer to my Heavenly Father including multiple prayers throughout the day. I read the scriptures daily for a half hour to learn more about Heavenly Father and his will for me. My faith has helped me realize my greatest responsibility is the teaching and raising my children in truth and righteousness. To accomplish this great task we have family prayer and scripture study everyday. We also reserve Monday nights as time to spend together as a family. I am an imperfect dad but I strive to love my children and to spend some individual focused time with them every week. As a family we strive to get to know our neighbors and to love them as ourselves. At church I oversee the youth program ages 18 months to 13 years old. I help choose their teachers and leaders and try to make sure they are having a positive experience and opportunity to gain a testimony of their Savior, Jesus Christ. I also visit four families a month and share with them a spiritual message and encourage them to strenghten their testimonies.

Are Mormons Christians?

Joseph
Absolutely! A Christian is someone who follows Jesus Christ. Mormon is a nickname because we use the Book of Mormon and the Bible, but the name of the church is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In the Book of Mormon it reads, "And we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according to our prophecies, that our children may know to what source they may look for a dremission of their sins "(2 Nephi 25:26). Joseph
An inrease of the spirit, a reminder of what the Lord expects of you, a firmer faith and hope in Jesus Christ, a desire to do what is right, a reminder to Love and serve others, and most importantly a testimony that Jesus Christ lives and paid for our sins so that we can repent and return to live with our Heavenly Father. All young men have been asked by the Lord to serve a mission for 2 years when they turn 19. Like any other commandment of the Lord each young man has a choice if they will serve or not. Great blessings come from serving the Lord and sharing with others about the gospel. Show more Show less

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

Joseph
A husband and wife can only be together forever if they and married in the temple by one who has God's authority. The same authority that Christ gave to Peter in the New Testament when he said, "And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven:" I though that familes can be together forever. Joseph
We are spirit children of our Heavenly Father. We have come to earth to gain a body like his. Our bodies are gifts from God and without them we are limited as to what we can learn and do. Show more Show less

How can I know Mormonism is true?

Joseph
In the introduction to the Book of Mormon is reads, "We invite all men everywhere to read the Book of Mormon, to ponder in their hearts the message it contains, and then to ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ if the book is true. Those who pursue this course and ask in faith will gain a testimony of its truth and divinity by the power of the Holy Ghost. (See Moroni 10: 3-5.) Those who gain this divine witness from the Holy Spirit will also come to know by the same power that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world, that Joseph Smith is his revelator and prophet in these last days, and that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the Lord’s kingdom once again established on the earth, preparatory to the second coming of the Messiah".
