Hi I'm Anna

This is me on the happiest day of my life. I'm a wife and mother. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a small town in the southwestern United States. I enjoy cooking, traveling, singing, dancing, and acting. Raising a family limits the time I can spend on those activities. I graduated with a bachelors degree in family and consumer studies and worked on a master's degree in retail.

Why I am a Mormon

To me religion is not something you inherit like hair color or even nationality. I feel that The Lord has a plan for me and I must follow it. Learning what His plan for me was important. I would pray and study the scriptures and ask Heavenly Father if The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Mormon church, was true. I can remember praying by my parents bed as a young women and asking if the prophet at that time - President Gordon B. Hinckley was really a true prophet. I felt an answer and knew it was God's Holy Spirit telling my spirit that he was a true prophet. Since then I have had many sweet experiences that also strengthened my testimony of the gospel. Looking back, even before that experience the Lord was testifying to me that Jesus Christ is my Savior, He loves me. The Book of Mormon is true, Joseph Smith is a prophet, and the Mormon church is the Lord's true church on the earth. When I do what President Monson (our current prophet) asks of us, I am blessed and feel he is also a prophet.

How I live my faith

I pray and read my scriptures every day. I think having a relationship with God makes life worth living and gives me hope for the future in this world and eternity. I visit women 2-3 women in our congregation in their homes every month and share an uplifting message about Heavenly Father' s plan for us and the love he shows us. I also teach the adult women as a congregation one Sunday a month on a specific gospel subject. I often substitute teach in the nursery or youth classes of our congregation. My favorite job is working with and nurturing the small children. I think this is where Jesus Christ would want to be if He were here - with the children.

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

All Mormon women are different. No two are alike. We differ in opinions, talents, and tastes. I believe I am a daughter of God. He loves me. There are no second class citizens in the kingdom of God. Woman was God's crowning creation. We have an important mission to fulfill and enjoy all of the blessings of the gospel that men do. Men and women walk side by side and serve with each other. We have different God-given roles, but the commandments, blessings, and promises to men and women are basically the same. Show more Show less

Why is authority to perform a baptism important?

Jesus Christ went to John the Baptist who held the priesthood and had authority to baptize. We must follow him. Show more Show less
