Hi I'm N. Reid

I'm a Mormon. I live in Dallas, Texas with my wonderful wife and two children. I joined the church in 1980 in Alberta, Canada.

About Me

I live in Dallas, Texas and have been active in the LDS faith since I first joined in January of 1980. I'm a pretty typical person, a father of two wonderful children and my loving wife is also my best friend. I work in the information technology industry and have an interest in hobbies such as cars, trap shooting, history, and reading.

Why I am a Mormon

I have tested and tried my faith for over thirty years, and what we believe is absolutely true. Every blessing in my life can be easily traced to principles of the gospel. I am a Mormon because this faith allows you to draw the powers of heaven into your life in a very practical way. I love the principles, the fairness, the mercy, the power and the beauty of the principles of the gospel. The Mormon faith is infinitely deep in its power and complexity, yet is simple enough to understand so that every person can live it. It has changed my life immensely, has brought the vast majority of my happiness to me, and has provided rich opportunities to serve others.

How I live my faith

The gospel of Jesus Christ is something we can live on a daily basis. My faith in the Savior is such that I know I can overcome the frailties of the human condition through repentance and a constant striving to improve myself. My religion is very real, and is applicable in everything I do on a daily basis. I am certainly not perfect; I strive for excellence in all things; when I fall short, which is often, I can draw upon the powers of heaven through the atonement of the Savior to help. Our family reads the scriptures daily, we have family prayer, are mindful of the hand of God which we see all around us. This faith allows us to be happier as a family and as individuals. We use the gospel as the standard for our lives versus what the world teaches as acceptable.

Who was Joseph Smith?

N. Reid
Joseph Smith was an amazing individual, and he, like some prophets in the Old Testament, was called to the position of prophet at the young age of 14. The gospel has always existed upon the earth since the earth was created. As humanity progressed, it passes through what are called "dispensations of time"; another way to put this is an era of history. A prophet has been called for each era, such as Adam in the Garden of Eden, Moses leading Israel from Egypt, and so forth. Joseph Smith was called by God to restore God's true religion upon the earth in the early 1800's. We do not worship Joseph Smith, we revere him. We worship the Lord Jesus Christ and our Heavenly Father. We have a prophet on the earth today who was called of God just as Adam, Moses, Joseph Smith and other prophets. He leads us today in becoming true disciples of our Father in Heaven. Show more Show less
