Hi I'm Andrew Stevens Z.

I've always had a creative itch, with interests in writing, art, boargame design, etc. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I graduated in Computer Science. I formerly worked for Ancestry.com, but am now pursuing a web development career. I've also pursued many creative interests like painting, drawing, writing music, story writing, playing guitar, etc. I'm currently aspiring to be a fantasy author and boardgame designer as well as wherever else the muse decides to take me!

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the LDS church and have always believed in it. However, in my teens, I had an experience which made my testimony (conviction of truth) take deeper root. Following a humbling experience, I knelt down in nervousness to say the prayer that would change my life. With tears rolling down my face, I plead for forgiveness and then I asked my Father if He was there. When I closed the prayer, the room seemed to radiate with an overwhelming feeling of peace and love. It felt as though His arms were around me. It was impossible to doubt that my sins have been forgiven. I was so overcome by joy, in fact, that I needed to get back on my knees to give a prayer of gratitude. Everything good that has happened in my life since can be traced back to the testimony I received that night. That, however, was only the beginning of the growth in testimony that would follow, especially, during my mission for the LDS church I served in New Zealand. It grew not only in depth, but also in breadth as I've come to find out the truth of specific principles of the Gospel.

How I live my faith

Part of my mission statement stems from a statement in the Articles of Faith (part of a publication Joseph Smith written up to explain the basic beliefs of the LDS church) which says "If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things." This seems to be a good rule of thumb in using my gifts in a way that is pleasing to God.

How can we stop the spread and influence of pornography?

Andrew Stevens Z.
This is an issue that I feel strongly about, as I've seen how destructive pornographic influence can be. Perhaps the most important thing we can do to fight against this evil is to see to it that we don't get involved ourselves in drinking the poison. It is all driven, after all, by the principals of supply and demand. If we, however, are struggling with these addictive influence, be prompt, but at the same time patient with ourselves in moving forward on the path to repentance. No matter how difficult it may be, the thorny path must be tread of doing what's necessary to break free. The most necessary thing is relying on the strength and healing power of the God who can move mountains, divide the Red Sea, govern the planets in their orbits, and so therefore has the power to make us whole. I find that 12 step groups are invaluable in all of this. Secondly, we can give strength, support, and loving influence to those around us who are battling this temptation in their lives. Lastly, we can get politically involved letting our voices be heard. Show more Show less
