Hi I'm Bryce

Hi, my name is Bryce, and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in a small town in southern Utah, in the United States. I come from a large family and was raised in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I played soccer among other sports in high school and love the outdoors. After graduating high school, I served a church mission to Japan and taught many people who spoke Portuguese and Japanese. After my mission, I went to college and attended the University of Utah where I had a full-ride athletic scholarship to pay for school. I met my wife there and got married a little over a year after we started dating. We have now been married for about 6 years and are finally expecting our first child this summer. I enoy traveling the world, hunting, fishing, camping, hiking and competing in triathlons.

Why I am a Mormon

Even though I was born and raised in the church, I found out for myself that Jesus Christ is my personal saviour, that He lives and knows me personally. Through my trials in life while growing up, I felt the undeniable compassion He has for me. I know His Atonement was not just to allow us to repent and be forgiven of our sins, but also to make our burdens light as we place our trust in Him. I know that Joseph Smith did in fact see the God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ in a small grove of trees near his home in upstate New York. I have been there several times and cannot deny the confirmation the Holy Ghost gave me of the truthfulness of that vision in 1830. I know that through the Power of God, Joseph Smith translated an ancient work known as The Book of Mormon, and that it is a true record of the ancent inhabitants of the American Continent. I know that The Book of Mormon is another testiment of Jesus Christ and contains additional knowledge and testimonies of Him. I know that as I live the Gospel of Jesus Christ I will be blessed and find comfort, hope and joy that can only be obtained in this life through Him.

How I live my faith

I love working with the youth and have had many opportunities to help the young men in our community learn and grow. It is amazing to me how much energy youth have. They really just need to be pointed in the right direction to succeed in life. My wife and I have enjoyed serving and working in the temple together each week and really enjoy the happiness it has brought into our lives as we help others feel the love that our Savior Jesus Christ has for each of us and the blessings that he has in store for us as we keep His commandments.

Why don't Mormons drink coffee, tea, or alcohol? What is the Mormon Church's law of health and proper diet?

Mormons have what is called the "Word of Wisdom" and it is a commandment just like keeping the sabbath day holy and not stealing or killing. It is in the Word of Wisdom that we learn about various substances, foods, and beverages that are harmful to our body and spirit. These things were revealed to Joseph Smith back in 1833. At that time, no one knew that tobacco had harmful effects on the body, but the Lord knew and revealed it to Joseph Smith along with all the other things in the Word of Wisdom. Some things in the Word of Wisdom are addicting and tear apart families and relationships (like alcohol). Other things create a physical dependency like coffee. And others according to modern science cause damage to our body and mind. If we keep the Word of Wisdom, we won't have our mind and/or body impaired by such substances and will be able to have better relationships with others, serve others more effectively and take care of our bodies that the Lord has blessed us with.
